Zendaya’s impeccable fashion sense inspired TV mom Nika King to perform her “A-game” on the red carpet.
The 44-year-old “Euphoria” star tells Page Six in private: “I remember inviting me to the ‘Spider-Man’ premiere and I said, ‘Oh my God, I’m going to be on the red carpet with him. Style.
She remembers thinking to herself, “‘I need to make sure I’m in style'”. “’I have to step up my A-game.’”
The actress, who plays Leslie Bennett in HBO’s hit drama Zendaya’s Rue, wore a strapless, multicolored patterned dress at the 2019 premiere of “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” She adorned her look with a thick bracelet, long gold earrings, and a whimsical headdress.
“I have a pretty good sense of style. I like to dress up. We’re both tall and thin,” King says about her and Zendaya’s sartorial similarities.

“I’m sample size but have slightly more breasts,” she admits. “But I just look at her fashion and… I see what she adds to the carpet and the look and say, ‘I want to make sure I’m doing what I enjoy.'”
While admiring the succession of memorable looks that Zendaya has created with celebrity stylist Law Roach – ranging from sexy to sophisticated – she personally pursues suits made by black designers.
“My biggest approach [to fashion] is is [wearing] I feel like they’re not getting recognition, they’re not getting the influence I think they deserve, they’re not getting their flowers,” she explains.
“You have all the big brands… People are always promoting them on rap songs and red carpets, but I want to see more black designers come to the fore because we need that equality in the fashion world.”
King is currently working with “a few stylists” and asks them to pull pieces from fashion houses founded by black talent.
“And you know what? Sometimes it’s hard… [but] That was my ultimate goal – to pursue and glorify black designers because I love my people and I want to see everybody win,” says the industry veteran who gravitates towards bright colors and bold patterns.
“I want to see everyone have the opportunity to shine.”
King donned a stunning silver suit from one of his favorite black designers, Pretty Guerilla, for the festivities ahead of the 95th annual Academy Awards ceremony on March 12.
“We found this metallic material and then we made a lace bodice and some boots and people were like, ‘Hey!’ was going for.
“I saw the hair and the outfit in my mind and said, ‘OK, put it together.’ And my designer Pretty Guerrilla did it, and we did it for the Oscars the night before.
While King is proud of the fashion moments he’s created in recent years, he tells Page Six Style that he’s looking for “his own Law Roach” to solidify himself as a Zendaya style icon.
“The thing is, I can dress myself… but I want to collaborate with people because I feel like what I want… is a good combo team like Law Roach and Zendaya,” she shares.
“So I’m looking for my own Law Roach. I’m looking for the only person who can elevate my style.”
