Bentley, 44, plays nemesis Jamie Dutton in the hit series where he plays his father, John Dutton, alongside Kevin Costner. Paramount announced in May that the series would end after its fifth season. Many were upset by the news – after all, it was “the most watched TV series on all television” in 2021 according to CBS – but Bentley says it will “celebrate” the end of 2021. yellowstone.
The actor said, “I’m going to miss the fight. Every single scene is literally the hardest scene I’ve ever had to do.” Hollywood Reporter. “By bringing out all the facets and nuances of this complex character, it will always be there as one of the hardest things I’ve ever accomplished or tried to achieve. So I’ll miss it but also celebrate that it’s over.”
Bentley detailed the “difficulty” of playing such a complex and “heartless” character as Jamie: “Jamie stays with me. I don’t always want him there! When I see people talking about method acting, I try my best to shake it up.”
He also admitted that he had a love-hate relationship with playing Jamie. “Like, I hate playing it,” he said with a laugh. “I try not to judge my characters, but at this point it is very difficult not to judge. It is very difficult to play it. I also love him.”
yellowstone The result is not a complete shock for Bentley. The star shared that she was “always ready” for her character to be somehow removed from the series or “some versions of the show come to an end”.
“You never know who’s going to be in and out, or who will die based on the way shows are going, and in what season,” he explained. “You never know. I have enough experience in this business to know that even when things are going well. Subrogation is a good example; climaxes and ends at the same time. I’ve always been prepared for a version of the show or I’m done.
“You just know the job and you’re always waiting for the craziest thing to happen,” he added. “And it happens most of the time.”
Another yellowstone The spin-off was confirmed to be in talks with Matthew McConaughey, 53, for the lead role. While it’s unclear whether Costner, 68, will appear in any future installments, Bentley said he is “open” to the possibility of returning as Jamie.
“If Jamie fits in, I would definitely like to be a part of it,” he shared. “But as I said, if it’s the end of the road for Jamie, I’m ready to finish it and celebrate his attempts to realize this character.”
“We’ll have to see what lies ahead for Jamie,” Bentley added.
