Treat Williams’ former co-stars in the drama series Everwood has We pay tribute to the actor after his unexpected death at the age of 71.
It was confirmed to PEOPLE that the late actor died in a motorcycle accident Monday evening by Barry McPherson, his manager of 15 years.
Everwood It aired for four seasons, from 2002 to 2006. The series is about widowed neurosurgeon Dr. John, who moves with his two children from Manhattan to the small town of Everwood, Colorado. It’s about Andy Brown (played by Williams).
“This news is devastating,” actor Gregory Smith, who plays Williams’ son Ephram, told PEOPLE. Treat was a great guy and a great actor. Above all, he loved his family very much.”

Smith, 39, said: “I am so grateful for the time I have spent as part of the extended television family. It left an indelible impression on me during my most formative years. I will always love the time I spent with Treat and will think fondly of his stories, laughter, and passion for adventure.

Grey’s Anatomy Star Sarah Drew, who joined as Hannah Rogers in season three, says she’s “totally upset at the news.” He told PEOPLE, “My experience working with Treat at Everwood has been formative in my life and career.
“We had a beautiful and extremely close family during our years in Salt Lake City. I learned a lot from Treat’s talent and leadership, and today we lost a bright light. My heart is with his family.”

Emily VanCamp, who plays Amy Abbott on the show, penned a tribute to the late star alongside a black and white photo of her as a young man on Instagram, describing working with Williams as “always great”.
“💔 We’ve worked together many times – always great and I’m always excited for the next time. Sending all my love to your family Treat. My high-fly friend ✨,” wrote VanCamp, 37.
She added to her Instagram Story, “So sad to hear about it. I love you Treat your family in this difficult time and with all my love.”
In the series, Dr. Scott Wolf, who appears as Jake Hartman, shared his shock about Williams’ death while paying his respects to the actor on his Instagram Story. “I love him and his beautiful family. He’s heartbroken,” she wrote while rebroadcasting an homage to Williams by the Hallmark channel.

Williams was nominated for a SAG Award in 2003-04 for outstanding performance by an actor in a drama series. everwood His death comes two weeks after his co-star John Beasley, who plays Irv Harper in the series, died on May 30. He was 79 years old.
With more than 120 credits to his name, Williams’ career spans over forty years, starring in films like Steven Spielberg’s. 1941 and Dixie’s Heart, and like television shows Blue Bloods, Late Shift, Chicago Fever And Chesapeake Shores.
Williams has also been involved in several Hallmark projects. Christmas House, Beyond the Blackboard, Safe Harbor and Chasing a Dream.
The actor is survived by his wife, actress Pam Van Sant, and their two children, Gill and Ellie.
