“33 years of marriage with my best friend, my lover, my man. Love wins,” Wilson wrote under a photo of them posing outside while wearing white.
The couple first met on the set of Hank’s sitcom “Bosom Buddies” in 1981. At the time he was still married to his first wife, college sweetheart Samantha Lewes. They had two children together, actor Colin Hanks, 45, and writer Elizabeth Hanks, 40.
In 1987, Hanks and Lewes officially separated, and a year later she and Wilson were married.
They have two sons named Chet (32) and Truman (27).
The couple shared difficult times together.
Chet has been open about his addiction problems, revealing last year that his parents sent him on the “troubled teens” show in 2008.
Wilson was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy followed by reconstruction surgery.
Five years later, both actors tested positive for COVID-19 while Hanks was filming “Elvis” in Australia.
Diagnosed early in the pandemic in March 2020, they made international headlines as they were the first high-profile names to contract the virus.
