It’s been a week since Tina Turner died at the age of 83.
We got praise from Oprah Winfrey and King Charles, and Beyoncé even sang one of her biggest hits on stage, “River Deep, Mountain High.”
But over the past few days, the superstar’s death has reopened old wounds that his family was desperately trying to mend.
The “Simply The Best” singer tragically lost her two biological sons, Craig Turner and Ronnie Turner, before her own death, while her two adopted sons, Ike Turner Jr. and Michael Turner is still alive.
And we can also explain that he left behind two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren – he never met all of them.
The family is still in shock of death, as many people did not hear that he was seriously ill, family sources told Page Six.
Twanna Turner, daughter of Tina’s first husband, Ike Turner, said: “It’s time to heal…the family really wants and needs healing, they’ve been through so much and they go on going through so much.
“These two powerhouses were such a whole – there will never be another Ike and Tina.”
Tina spent the last few decades of her life living with her second husband, Erwin Bach, at her $76 million mansion in Switzerland, known as Villa Algonquin.
The rock queen had two biological children.
His first son, Craig, with Raymond Hill, one of Ike Turner’s support group members, was born when Tina was 18.
She later married Craig’s adoptive Ike, and the couple welcomed their son, Ronnie.
She is Ike Jr., whose mother is Lorraine Taylor, Ike’s previous wife. and adopted Michael.
Ike and Tina’s troubled celebrity marriage ended in divorce in 1978.
His son never met Ronnie’s children Raquel and Randy, and he never knew Raquel’s younger children Tyson and Tyrese.
Both Raquel and Randy were said to be struggling and still trying to come to terms with their father’s loss.
However, Raquel is said to have a “beautiful” singing voice.
Although Craig and Ike Jr. have no children, Michael has a daughter named Tiffany Turner-Dukes.
Turner-Dukes has three children: daughter Marli with her husband, and sons Amari and Gianni.
Tiffany has founded an anti-bullying nonprofit and is a jewelry designer and advocate for children with autism.
He’s also a music producer, sharing a post about his complex legacy earlier this year, saying, “Growing up with a famous bloodline 🩸a painful childhood is not for the faint-hearted 😮💨.
“I’ve broken many generational curses in my life so far, and I continue to break them as I write this.”
None of Tina’s three grandchildren through Michael have met their rock star great-grandmothers, but they are all musical, like their famous relatives.
Speaking to Page Six, Twanna Turner was Ike’s daughter with Tina’s high school friend Pat Richard.
Tina, then known by her birth name Anna Mae Bullock, went to St. Louis attended Sumner High School in Tennessee.
They would go together and watch Ike play at a local club.
Twanna, 63, said the family was shaken by Tina’s death after a series of health struggles, including kidney disease: “No one had heard from Tina for a while, it was so sudden.”
Her death, however, brought up all the headlines regarding her marriage to Ike.
The singer wrote in her 1986 hit biography “I, Tina” that she was constantly harassed throughout their 20-year relationship.
He explained that he suffered third-degree burns from being thrown at his face by hot coffee, and that his nose was punched so often that it caused blood to seep into his throat while singing.
She said the abuse caused her to attempt suicide and filled her with “nightmares” that stayed with her for much of her life.
She claimed that Ike took her to a brothel in Tijuana, Mexico, the night of their wedding, and made her watch a live sex show.
He also revealed that he cheats on her regularly and enjoys sex that is closer to some kind of rape.
He said: “Sex with Ike became an expression of hostility – a form of rape – especially when it started or ended with a beating.
“What used to be ugly and hateful between us just got worse with every cocaine pull.”
Marriage was portrayed on the screen in the 1993 movie “What Love Should Do,” with Angela Bassett making an Oscar-nominated return as Tina. Laurence Fishburne played Ike.
Bringing up the past has been extremely difficult for the family, as their 40-year-old granddaughter, Tiffany, wrote on social media following Tina’s death: “Rest in peace… Uncle Craig and Ronnie are waiting for you.”
But Tiffany responded to the trolls, saying, “People who only know one side of a sold-out story will forever find a way to see it. IDGAF, what you think you know… unless you’re of my lineage, you don’t know S–T.”
“Having famous grandparents with a story like theirs is the hardest thing to deal with.
“There is healing and forgiveness. But… unfortunately… in this game… that is never the story that is sold or told. If you have a problem with my last name and surname… stop following me in real life.
Twanna, who only met Ike when she was 28 in 1987, but continued to have a close relationship with him before her death in December 2007, told Page Six: “When Tina died, all I could think about was ‘it’s going to be floodgates now.’ I couldn’t even mourn his passing I’ve been in my father’s protective mode since I met him.
Ike had always denied he was abusing Tina, and Twanna said, “She would always say to me, ‘baby, if Tina thinks that’s what she has to do to get where she needs to go, that’s between her and God’…she.”
Tina was devastated by the death of her eldest son, Craig, who committed suicide at the age of 59 on July 3, 2018. He had a history of dealing with drugs.
Later that month, she wrote on Twitter: “My saddest moment as a mother. On Thursday, July 19, 2018, I said a final goodbye to my son, Craig Raymond Turner, as I gathered with my family and friends to scatter his ashes on the California coast.
“She was fifty-nine when she died tragically, but she will always be my baby.”
Then, on December 8 last year, Ronnie died of colon cancer at the age of 62, leaving behind his children and grieving wife Afida Turner.
He collapsed next to his car in front of his home in Studio City while trying to get to the doctor after telling a friend he couldn’t breathe.
Family sources said she couldn’t come to Tina’s funeral in Los Angeles.
Twanna burst into tears, saying: “Ronnie and I were very close, we talked every day, and I had just known Craig – we were at Craig’s house two weeks before he died.
“Craig was going to watch the musical Tina on his birthday, he was happy, very excited, hoping it was a time of recovery for the family, so it was a big shock in the end.
“Then we lost my precious brother Ronnie… he was on the phone with a family friend who was going to the doctor with him that morning. He said, ‘My chest hurts so much, I’m having trouble breathing.’ He was on his way to stay where he was and he didn’t listen.
“He was going to his car when he hit the curb.”
Ronnie’s wife, Afida, announced that her husband Erwin, whom Tina married 10 years ago after 27 years of love, will inherit almost half of Ronnie’s estimated $250 million fortune.
Bach, 67, supported the star with a stroke right after her marriage, and donated one of her kidneys in 2017 when she needed a kidney transplant.
However, Afida said it was unclear who would inherit Tina’s remaining wealth, as her sons died before her.
Switzerland is extremely private and citizens do not have to submit their wills to an official institution.
It is not considered public information.
However, the official opening of the will will take place in Meilen, but we were told it was not a public event.
Meanwhile, Ronnie’s daughter Raquel has had her own struggles.
In April 2017, she launched a GoFundMe with the aim of raising cash to pay legal bills to get custody of her son Tyson, whose father is Karl Oldnettle.
He has issued two temporary restraining orders against the 45-year-old Oldnettle in Los Angeles: one in 2019 – which has expired – and again in 2022.
But family sources said that despite going through a difficult time, Raquel, who is now in her 30s, “is getting better now” and has inherited her grandmother’s beautiful voice.
She is also close with her 36-year-old brother Randy, who lives in Los Angeles.
“It’s been very difficult and that’s why the family needs time to grieve and be together,” Twanna said.
