To celebrate their 22nd anniversary, Shields posted an Instagram carousel with several sweet photos with her husband.
“Married 22 years today…sometimes it feels like forever in the blink of an eye! There’s no one else I’d rather go crazy for or go crazy for… get caught or be caught… love or be loved by them ❤️,” Shields wrote and added, “I’ve been in this business for a long time. You’re a goalkeeper.”
early days
Blue Pond star found Henchy in 1999—or rather, Darla, the bulldog, found him. She told that she met her husband in her 2005 memoirs, The Rain Has Falled: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression.
“I just had Darla, an American bulldog, and brought her to meet my friends at the gym on the Warner Bros. plot. While I was there, the dog went away and Chris brought her back,” Shields wrote. “He was writing for a show that was filmed on plot and that loves dogs. We chatted and it made me laugh.”
History Forever
Since they met in 1999, the couple has partnered for a number of events, attended charity fundraisers together and walked side-by-side on red carpets. They were decorated for the GLAAD Media Awards in New York City in April 2000.

Shields and Henchy got married in an intimate ceremony on Catalina Island off the coast of California. A month later, they read their vows to each other in Palm Springs. In his loving speech with Henchy, Shields swore that he would always laugh at his jokes, “even if I’ve heard it before.”
Trusting the Relationship
Shields began seeing Henchy soon after she broke up with her first husband, Andre Agassi, and later admitted that she had some doubts about finding new love so quickly. In a 2023 PEOPLE interview about his two-part documentary Sweet Baby: Brooke ShieldsShe recalled worrying it might be “backlashing” with Henchy, “because I never took the time to sow my oats,” she said.
But after breaking up with Henchy, she still found herself talking to him often.
“I was always looking for him and he said, ‘You broke up with me, that’s the way things are. You can’t call me every day because’. You broke up with I. So don’t call me every day,” said Shields, adding that he thought, ‘I don’t want to lose this person, so I better behave myself’.

Both husband and wife have a hand in the entertainment industry. Henchy has had a successful career as a screenwriter and producer, and has worked on the following hit series: environment And Rotation City as well as blockbuster comedies such as Others And Offer.

These two definitely know how to have a good time! In fact, Shields told PEOPLE that the secret to their lasting love is to laugh.
“He made me laugh and he constantly makes me laugh and he doesn’t take things too seriously, so I don’t go down into those rabbit holes the way I used to,” he said of Henchy in a 2023 PEOPLE cover story interview. “It kind of brings me back and says, ‘We’re going to figure this out.’ So he’s good at leveling me up.”
Starting a Family
The happy couple became happier parents with the arrival of their first daughter, Rowan Francis, in 2003.
