The decision to settle Dominion Voting Systems’ massive defamation lawsuit against Fox News may have resulted in the relief of Rupert Murdoch’s $787.5 million checkbook, but it deprived the American public of something far better: inexplicably popular hosts like Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham. Listening to admit they lied to their audience about the 2020 presidential election. And Jordan Klepper is not going to put up with it.
Discussing the results of the Fox-Dominion deal Wednesday night, Daily Show The guest host noted that “the Dominion is not the only one hurt” by the network’s constant push of Trump’s “Big Lie.”
Klepper asked, “What about our faith in democracy?” said. “There are people who won’t trust choices for the rest of their lives, and I have to do that. to talk to those people.”
While America would never witness what Klepper imagined as “Sean Hannity, there on the lectern sweating like a beached walrus during his search,” he was even more pissed that the settlement didn’t need the net or any of that. o – apologizing live for years of lying.
“We deserve it – at least,” he said.
Klepper then took matters into his own hands, putting together an apology from Tucker Carlson himself… compiled from a series of audio files.
“We admit that we lied to you because you said the wrong things about the 2020 election… Now why is that? The truth is… Donald Trump lost the election… And no, we didn’t tell you because we don’t care what you think,” Carlson said in a series of edited clips.
“Thanks, Tucker,” said Klepper. “Well said.”
