Taylor Swift got some “Bad Blood” in the city’s Department of Sanitation.
Since purchasing a three-story townhouse at 153 Franklin St. in Tribeca for $18 million in October 2017, Swift has been fined 32 times totaling $3,010 for failing to keep the sidewalks in front of her building clean, according to city records.
But despite her estimated net worth of $570 million and world tours to worry about, the pop star — and her army of lawyers — has spent time and energy fighting the fines.
He even managed to save $200 from penalties.
Between January 2018 and January 2023, sanitation inspectors penalized Swift, 33, for failing to clean the area in front of her building, dirty pavement, and improperly littering.
Over the years, stacks of newspapers, bottles, and cardboard have been added to the unsightly scum; napkins and wrappers; and “scattered ashtray contents,” according to the summons, and a cigarette carton.
“He doesn’t mind leaving the trash out,” a 22-year-old dog walker told The Post, just a few crushed cigarette butts dotted the space in front of his 27-foot-wide townhouse on the cobblestone block. “I think he’s more focused on his multi-million dollar tour that bankrupted all his fans.”
The Swift rep declined to comment.
The Chichi area was previously occupied by former International Monetary Fund director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who rented the building for $50,000 a month while under house arrest for allegedly sexually assaulting a hotel maid in 2011, but the charges were dropped later that year.
After purchasing the Swift townhouse, he spent nearly $30 million on the three units at 155 Franklin St. converted into a private entrance for the large penthouse in the condominium next door.
Although both buildings have received sanitation tickets, in terms of the area in front of his building, 155 Franklin St. The housing association at
Swift is solely responsible for keeping the area in front of the townhouse clean.
Several Swifties have defended their idols’ reputations and blamed the garbage heaps on the paparazzi and fans who regularly camp out at Franklin to catch a glimpse of the beloved celebrity.
“It’s probably the fans who wait for her and smoke when they’re bored,” said Christine O’Connor, 33. “She doesn’t even smoke!”
Swift’s 23 Cornelia St. David Aldea, a one-time landlord, was surprised to hear about the messy condition of his former tenant.
“He’s always been anything but the perfect tenant and was nice to deal with,” said Aldea, a former Soho House executive. “I have nothing but positive things to say about him.”
City records show that since the townhouse purchase, Swift’s glorified mudroom and garage has garnered the most sanitation penalties of any building on the block.
“I am not sure [city inspectors] If he’s doing this to everyone or being targeted, 44-year-old Tribeca resident Rebecca Heller thought.
I live on White Street and there are other people who deserve it. [being ticketed] More. And they’re clearly not changing their behavior.”
