For Simu Liu, the most challenging aspect of starring in the movie “Barbie” was waxing.
The “Shang-Chi” star, who plays one of the Kens in the upcoming blockbuster movie, privately told Page Six that he “screamed” while getting his arm and leg hair.
“The physical act of waxing [was] “He’s by far the toughest in the IWC Chrono Challenge ahead of Thursday’s F1 Miami Grand Prix.”
“Imagine the Steve Carell scene in ’40-Year-Old Virgin. Liu, 34, joked.
“I was screaming all the time because I was a baby.”
The Marvel actor revealed that Kens “clearly has no hair”, so the team behind the scenes had to “fix the truth” that Kens was.
“Besides, we had dance numbers in the movie,” he continued, noting that learning the routines was a “difficult process.”
“[But] It was very, very satisfying to work with the incredible choreographers and a great cast.”
Directed by Greta Gerwig, the film stars Margot Robbie as the main Barbie and Ryan Gosling as the original Ken.

Dua Lipa, Issa Rae, Nicola Coughlan, Hari Nef, Kate McKinnon and Emma Mackey portray different versions of the iconic doll, while Ncuti Gatwa, Scott Evans and Kingsley Ben-Adir join Gosling and Liu as various Kens.
Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Helen Mirren and Will Ferrell are also in the cast of the highly anticipated film.
Liu said that the cast has been in touch since filming ended.
“Barbie and Ken are in group chat,” he shared.
“It’s been a pleasure to be a part of so many meetings and extra curricula. [activities] after shooting and on weekends. It was really the best environment to make this movie.”
“Barbie” hits theaters on July 21.
