Shakira’s ex-wife, Gerard Piqué, reportedly fled her home in Barcelona after her father was notified of her eviction notice.
According to local news outlets (via The Mirror), the ex-athlete’s father, Joan Piqué, sent Shakira an email on March 13 asking the former couple to vacate or pay compensation by April 30.
The 46-year-old “Waka Waka” singer, who has two sons with Gerard, said goodbye to her home in Spain on Sunday in an emotional Instagram post.
“I settled in Barcelona to provide my children with the stability we now seek in another corner of the world, next to family, friends and the sea,” he wrote in a post translated from Spanish to English.
“Today we begin a new chapter to seek your happiness.”
The pop star thanked those who made her time in Barcelona so special, describing it as the city where she learned that “friendship is undoubtedly longer than love”.
“Thanks to everyone out there who encouraged me, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow. Thanks to my Spanish listeners who have always surrounded me with their love and loyalty.”
Shakira looked emotional at Barcelona airport with her children Milan (10) and Sasha (8), as she left town with her belongings for the weekend.
The singer, who has lived in his home in Barcelona with his family for eight years, has reportedly moved to Miami.
Shakira’s juniors will start school in Florida later this month, according to The Daily Mail.
The breakup of the “Hips Don’t Lie” artist comes amid her bitter breakup from 36-year-old Gerard.
Shakira announced her separation from her partner in June 2022 after spending nearly 11 years together, and Page Six reported in January that Piqué was allegedly in a relationship with his current girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti.

According to reports, Shakira discovered that Gerard was cheating when she noticed that the supply of jam was dwindling. In the “Te Felicito” music video, she alluded to the jelly ordeal.
Gerard, who met Shakira in 2010 when she appeared in the “Waka Waka” music video, went public with Marti in late January.
Sharkia seemed to suggest that there is a “place in hell” for Gerard’s new girlfriend, and shared how hurt he was during his “TQG” collaboration with Karol G.
In March, Shakira addressed the breakup in an interview with “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon”, revealing that she had a “tough” year and put up with “a lot of crap”.
Despite his heartbreak, Gerard does not apologize for his behavior. He shared that he was “very happy” last month and remained “loyal” to himself.
