An indispensable member of Rihanna’s glamorous team and the Fenty Beauty Global Makeup Artist, the beauty guru has prepared Bad Gal for many memorable moments. iconic pope-inspired look 2018 “Heavenly Bodies” at the Met Gala.
But preparing superstars for the fashion-filled feast isn’t all that flashy, as makeup artist Page Six Style, who recently collaborated with Secret deodorant, told Page Six Style “how much work it takes to do just one day’s work.”
“For the Met in particular, I feel like there’s a lot of pressure on the Met, and there are actually a lot of dazzling moments,” Ono says days ago, “by going through the references, testing the products, going to buy the products,” and freshening up and disinfecting his kit.
But at the end of the day, it all comes down to a big beauty look and an “emotional” moment for Ono.
“Where the car leaves the customer is always the same area, like the side of the red carpet,” he says. “You see your client walking down the red carpet… you almost want to shed a tear, like ‘here it goes’. I think these are the most important moments for me.”
“[All of my my Met Gala looks] What I do with Rihanna and Normani – I feel like every Met Gala look is special in its own way,” Ono adds – but she’s kept her mouth shut on whether we’ll be able to see some of her handiwork at this year’s gala.
However, as for how makeup looks on tonight’s coveted carpet? “I think it’s really classic, fresh, beautiful make-up, which is really nice because we’ve done all these extravagant make-ups in the past years,” Ono says, with lots of “pastel nude lips” predictions and for this year’s theme of “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” “classic red lips”.
