Reese Witherspoon has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Jim Toth, after 12 years of marriage.
The 47-year-old “Legally Blonde” star cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the breakup, according to Davidson County court records obtained by TMZ Saturday.
Witherspoon and Toth signed a prenuptial agreement effective in March 2011 that would provide “adequate and adequate provisions” for their assets and debts, according to documents filed in Nashville, Tenn.
The ex-couple, who shares a 10-year-old son, Tennesse, will have to enroll in a mandatory parenting class in Davidson County.
They will then have 60 days to present a certificate of completion to the court.
Witherspoon will reportedly submit her preliminary agreements and a permanent parenting plan to a judge for approval.
On March 24, Witherspoon took to Instagram to make a joint statement, days before she and 52-year-old Toth prepared to celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary.

The “Cruel Intentions” star said she and the former Creative Artist Agency executive “have had many wonderful years together,” while “moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we create together.”
Witherspoon, who is also the mother of her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe’s 23-year-old daughter Ava and 19-year-old son Deacon, added that “his top priorities” are their sons and “all their families as we move forward in this next chapter.” ”
Page Six privately reported last week that the couple’s marriage had ended as it had become platonic and “zero romance” remained.
An insider told us earlier, “There’s no major scandal or drama, it’s just essentially two people who are co-parents and don’t really have romantic feelings for each other anymore.”
About a week after announcing the separation, the mother of three was seen making a stern phone call while in Nashville on Thursday — not wearing her wedding ring.
Toth and Witherspoon married at their California home in March 2011, after nearly a year of dating.
In March 2021, the “Big Little Lies” graduate took to Instagram to commemorate 10 years of marriage with her “sweet husband.”
“What a special day with our dear friends. Looking back, I can’t believe it went so fast!” wrote a picture of their marriage. “3 kids, BIG LOVE, lots of laughter, non-stop travel, lots of dogs and fun adventures… that’s how it goes to explore this crazy world together, I guess. Here are more days in the sun! I ❤️ you, JT.”
