Ray Liotta’s cause of death was revealed about a year later.
The actor died in his sleep on May 26, 2022 in the Dominican Republic at the age of 67. He died of heart and respiratory system problems, including pulmonary edema (i.e. fluid in the lungs), acute heart failure, and respiratory system. Incompetence according to documents received by TMZ.
The documents also reportedly state that Liotta has atherosclerosis. The Mayo Clinic defines this health condition as a buildup of plaque on the artery walls that “can cause the arteries to narrow and block blood flow.”
Liotta’s manner of death was classified as “natural and non-violent,” according to TMZ.
A former representative of Liotta did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Last May, a source told PEOPLE that no fouls were suspected in her death, and that her fiancé, Jacy Nittolo, was with her when she died.
Liotta was shooting the movie. Dangerous Waters before his death. It also appeared recently sopranos prequel movie Newark’s Many Saints and the Prime Video series hanna.
The actor was engaged to his fiancee, Nittolo, and was the father of ex-wife Michelle Grace and 24-year-old daughter Karsen Liotta.
Liotta opened up to PEOPLE in November 2021 how his personality differs from the tough guy roles he plays on screen.
“I’ve never had a fight outside of sports, and it’s just repulsive and stupid kid stuff,” he said at the time.
“The way this is going is weird, because I’ve definitely had a career that has had its ups and downs,” Liotta said.
“For some reason I’ve been busier this year than in all the years I’ve done this job. I still feel like I haven’t gotten to that point. I just think there’s a lot more going on,” he said.
