Recently in a segment Variation‘S actors over actors Pascal, who plays Joel, spoke highly of Ramsey, who, along with Steven Yeun, co-starred with him as Ellie in the hit HBO series.
Pascal, 48, admitted that working on such a busy project with 19-year-old Ramsey, who was only 17 when they first started filming, seemed daunting at first.
“How scary it was knowing you were going to have an experience with a teenager 12 months away from home,” he told Yeun.
However, Pascal quickly added, he could instantly tell that Ramsey was “cool” as well.
“I couldn’t have asked for a more anchored, generous and thoughtful young man. And I don’t want to say it in an arrogant way,” he shared. “I trusted Bella for most of the experience. We were both scared and shy about it, but Bella inspired me to mature about it.”

Ramsey said GameRant.com He explains that their relationship with Pascal is actually a “nice parallel” to Ellie’s relationship with Joel, explaining that the two didn’t even get a chance to meet before they started filming the show. (Both stars were on. game of ThronesHowever, Pascal’s character, Oberyn Martell, was killed before Ramsey joined two seasons later.)
“We just got kicked out,” Ramsey explained. “And that chemistry was right there and it grew and developed like Joel and Ellie did. As their relationship developed, so did ours.
“And I think that was a very nice parallel and yes, maybe Neil and Craig’s [the creators of the show] on behalf of them,” they continued. “To not give us time to meet and connect. I think it worked really well.”
“Right, it was very parallel in terms of getting to know each other by stepping on set at the same time and getting in front of the camera and getting the story,” Pascal said. The expectations invented by one another and from each other vanished in an instant.”
