Paloma Faith disagrees with everything that happens under the sea.
The British singer hit theaters after filming Disney’s live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” – in which Halle Bailey portrayed Ariel, a mermaid who falls in love with Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King). the message of the movie.
“I just saw it [sic] As a mother of daughters, I don’t want my kids to think it’s okay to give up all your voice and strength to love a guy, while my kids and I think the new little mermaid and Halle are doing well and the cast is great. Faith, 41, wrote per Metro in a post that has since been deleted.
“What s–t is this? It is not at all what I want to teach the new generation of women.
Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Faith’s lyrics, with many questioning whether Faith had even seen the original 1989 movie “The Little Mermaid.”
“Didn’t he see the original? Why would you take your child to a movie without knowing how to explain it, especially when the movie was a cartoon before… it feels like his problem is something else” wrote a fan.

Other fans pointed out that Ariel gave up her voice to be human, not a man.
“Ariel literally sings ‘part of your world’ before she even knows the prince exists. The original film already had a strong female independent message.” tweeted a person.
“Did she give up her voice to be human? Literally the song “Part of your world” [is about]” wrote another.
While it’s unclear whether Faith has seen the original Disney movie, fans have found an old tweet of her from 2019. Wrote“I want to be the little mermaid when I grow up.”
