They do not belong to each other.
Nick Cannon likened living with his ex-wife Mariah Carey to what it would be like for Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to share a house.
“Imagine if Trump and Putin had to live in the same house,” Cannon told the Los Angeles Times in a new interview published Sunday, as she contemplated the toxic dynamics of their 2014 marriage towards the end.
The “Masked Singer” host added, “It wasn’t even about him and me – we were always good.”
Cannon, 42, said he and Carey, 54, ultimately had to do what was best for their 12-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan.
“It was about understanding our relationship and understanding that we should do what’s best for the kids, rather than talk about what I want or what you want.”
Cannon and “You Are All I Want For Christmas” artist married in 2008 and started a family together three years later. However, their marriage gradually dissolved in 2014 and they divorced two years later.
Cannon and Carey continue to co-parent their two children since their separation, but have had 10 more children from five different women.
The “Drumline” actress, who does not believe in monogamy, welcomed Brittany Bell with Golden ‘Sagon’ 6, Powerful Queen, 2 and Rise Messiah for 7 months; 1-year-old twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir and Abby De La Rosa with 5-month-old Beautiful Zeppelin and LaNisha Cole with 7-month-old Onyx.
He and Alyssa Scott also welcomed Zen in June 2021, but their baby boy tragically died at just 5 months old from a brain tumor. They went on to welcome Halo Marie in December 2022.
Cannon also welcomed his son Legendary with Bre Tiesi in July 2022.
Still, Carey has done nothing but support Cannon throughout her journey to parenthood.
“Yo, let’s make sure we’re on the same page every day so we know it’s not true when some crap pops up,” Cannon said on an episode of “The Jason Lee Show.” .
He added that he constantly checked on the five-octave vocalist to make sure he was okay.
“He is high-frequency. He always asked me ‘Are you okay? How are you’? Cannon shared, stating that they “talk to it every day” and that he controls his “soul”.
As for how Carey and Cannon’s kids felt about having so many younger siblings, the “Wild ‘n Out” host said they loved it.
“They’re having fun and they’re the oldest,” Cannon said on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff Podcast in April.
Unlike Cannon, Carey has not welcomed any more children since giving birth to her twins, but has moved on with her partner Bryan Tanaka.
