Everything was fine just a week ago.
Natalie Portman and her husband, Benjamin Millepied, were spotted scrambling their cell phones just days before their alleged affair with Camille Étienne was revealed.
The couple, who married in 2012, were seen kissing and socializing with friends, including Portman’s “May December” director Todd Haynes, while dining at Georges restaurant in Paris on May 29.
The “Black Swan” star can be seen standing outside and chatting with Haynes, 62, while holding a glass of wine.
Portman, 41, and the screenwriter embraced as her husband chatted with an unknown woman nearby.
Their romantic outing came just four days before the French dancer’s alleged affair with 25-year-old Étienne surfaced.
On Friday, Page Six reported that Millepied was fighting desperately to save her marriage to Portman.
Sources told Page Six that the two broke up last year but have managed to resolve their issues – only for the latest allegations that have surfaced.
And a source close to the couple told us, “They haven’t broken up and are trying to make things right. Ben is doing everything he can to get Natalie to forgive him. He loves her and her family.”
An insider added that Portman is “incredibly private” and that “his biggest focus right now is protecting children.”
French magazine Voici claimed to have spent time with ballerina Étienne and published photos of the father of two and the climate activist entering his office separately on May 24 and leaving two hours later, 10 minutes apart.
The publication claimed that Portman found out about her husband’s affair “at the beginning of March.”

The “Unaffiliated” actress apparently hinted at her marital troubles the day before her alleged cheating scandal went public.
On Thursday, she took a look at her nearly nine million Instagram followers, specifically her recent read about a “grievous wife.”
“When X, a polarizing and elusive artist, dies in his office, his grieving wife sets out to uncover the truth about X’s life,” Portman wrote under a photograph with her head peeking out of the book.
“Part narrative fiction, part fake biography – Catherine Lacey’s X Biography already feels totally original and I can’t wait to discuss it with you all. #JuneBookPick.”
A representative of Portman and Millepied declined to comment, while Étienne did not respond to our request for comment.
He met the Oscar-winning actress Millepied in 2009 on the set of the ballet “Black Swan”, which he choreographed himself.
They got engaged in 2010 and married two years later in Big Sur, California.
The couple has two children: son Aleph, 12, and daughter Amalia, 6.
