A Morgan Wallen fan sued the country singer on Monday for canceling a concert minutes before showtime.
Brandi Burcham filed a class action suit on behalf of “she and all other similarly-situated” clients who attended Wallen’s performance at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss., on Sunday, but was said to have lost her voice in the eleventh hour. .
Burcham said in court documents obtained by Page Six that although the venue promised reimbursement “at the point of purchase”, his own had not yet been “arranged” when he filed the complaint.
“Even if the ticket prices were refunded, no offer was made to compensate the concert attendees for their out-of-pocket expenses, including transportation, accommodation, food, merchandise sales, transaction fees and other similar expenses incurred due to the cancellation of the concert, the plaintiff added.
Burcham is suing for breach of contract and negligence, as well as seeking a trial by jury.
Page Six reached out to Wallen’s representative for comment.
The 29-year-old “Last Night” singer has canceled the fifth date of her One Night at a Time World Tour after Hardy, Ernest, and Nate Smith have already given opening performances, disappointing nearly 60,000 attendees, most of them on social media. their complaints.
“Totally disappointed at @MorganWallen!! He has been sitting in this stadium for 3 hours and just announced that the show has been cancelled!!! COMPLETE BULLS–T!!!” a fan tweeted.
“You can’t cancel a show 5 minutes before showtime. Period. If he was sick or had no voice, he knew it long before. pathetic” wrote another.
“I’m not so angry that I haven’t seen Morgan Wallen because I’ve seen him before. What I’m most disappointed with is that they knew this before the concert and allowed over 80,000 people to buy drinks and products before canceling so everyone got their money’s worth,” tweeted a third concert goer, misrepresenting the Ole Miss football stadium seating capacity. .
Wallen later wrote on his Instagram Stories that he was “very upset” and “tried everything”. [he] feeling better in time for performance”.
In a second message on Monday, the former “The Voice” contestant announced that he was on “doctor-ordered audio listening” and had to plan three more stops on his tour as a result.
“I appreciate and understand everything you do to come to my shows, so it would be unfair for me to stage a show that I know will not be 100%,” he continued. “I’m doing everything I can to speed up this 100% process.”
Wallen is no stranger to controversy, as he was caught shouting the N-word in front of the camera on a drunken night in 2021. He later apologized for using racial slurs that didn’t hurt his music sales or broadcast numbers.
