Miami Heat guard Victor Oladipo was the one who gave a silky rendition of “Easy” by the Commodores in season two. Masked Singer– says he secretly looted bank accounts of a trusted confidant and allegedly deposited the stolen funds in a luxury Florida apartment and a strip club in New York City.
In a violent court filing obtained by The Daily Beast, 31-year-old, two-time NBA All-Star and recently plagued by injuries in his playing career, accuses longtime operations manager James B. Henderson of impeaching him. at least $1.3 million when not looking.
The previously unreported allegations were made in the June 16 petition, which aimed to compel Henderson, nicknamed “Jay Belly,” to testify and reveal himself.
Henderson’s lawyer, Ariel Mitchell, contacted by phone on Friday, said his client did not wish to comment on the case. According to a source close to both Henderson and Oladipo, the fierce dispute began with a lawsuit that Oladipo filed in Orange County Environmental Court last year, but was deliberately kept quiet.
“Mr. Oladipo didn’t want it to be announced, Mr. Henderson didn’t want it to be announced,” the source told The Daily Beast.
The newly filed petition says Oladipo hired Henderson while with the Indiana Pacers in May 2017. Over the next few years, Henderson helped Oladipo take on a number of high-profile ventures, facilitating a co-ownership position at a record label, executive producer on a Hollywood movie, and facilitating marketing deals with major brands such as Motorola and Hulu. Later that year, Henderson called “fake [Oladipo’s] signature on checks [his] Cash management account at Merrill Lynch of $25,803 each and making them payable to DDS Hospitality Construction in connection with Apartment renovation/improvement,” the petition continues.
On August 17, 2021, Belly Properties says it transferred ownership of the condo to Henderson’s son, named James, for just $100.
Yet for Oladipo, this was just the beginning. Henderson says he has drawn additional checks for about $900,000 from Merrill accounts, using the money to “pay for his personal expenses.”
When Oladipo realized what was going on, he fired Henderson and hired a new business manager, a case of filing a companion. The filing only states that “Mr. Neiman soon found that Mr. Oladipo’s money was [Henderson]Including an investment and/or joint venture in a business that operates an adult entertainment club in Woodside, New York.
