Meghan Trainor apologized for being insensitive after saying “damn teachers” during a heated discussion on her podcast.
“TikTok teachers and teachers of the world, I said ‘teachers’ on the podcast recently, and I don’t feel that way,” the “Made You Look” singer explained in a video she posted on TikTok on Sunday.
“I was fired for talking about how horrible it is to send your child to school here in America. What we all have to go through, especially teachers, is not normal and right.”
Trainor, 29, expressed her appreciation for teachers, acknowledging that she needs to be more mindful of her words in the future.
“I love teachers. I fight for teachers. “I think they have the hardest jobs and they’re the least paid, the most underappreciated, when they literally raise us all,” he said.
“I don’t want to make excuses. I’m so sorry for all the teachers I’ve made me feel bad about. And I’ll remind myself that my words can definitely have consequences, and I’ll be more careful. I love you all so much. Again, I’m so sorry. Thank you all for helping me.”
The Grammy-winning actress explained that her anger was directed at specific teachers, but “not all teachers.”
“There was Trisha Paytas on the podcast and I knew about her history with her teachers and I knew about my husband’s history with her teachers and I was bullied by some teachers,” she explained. “So at that moment I got angry and said, ‘Eff teachers. Impress certain people of the day.’”
“I’m sorry for being careless,” Trainor reiterated at the bottom of her video, saying, “Let’s work together to make schools a better place.”

The mother of someone who is currently pregnant with baby #2 discussed during the controversial April 19 episode of her podcast “Workin’ on It” that she wants to homeschool her children amid the growing epidemic of school shootings in America.
“We educate our children at home. Damn it. Everyone at TikTok said, ‘This is what it’s like to have kids in America. I have a bulletproof backpack.’ I was like, ‘Fuck them all,'” he said, adding, “Bullying, teachers, fuck teachers.”
Trainor was called out for her insensitive comments on social media, and several teachers on TikTok and YouTube demanded an apology.
“She’s a talented lady, I’m disappointed by this comment,” one teacher wrote on TikTok.
“As a former teacher, I was absolutely surprised that Meghan called it ‘teachers’. I worked 12 hours a day and weekends, spent money out of my own pocket, sacrificed my mental and physical health to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for my students,” one retired teacher wrote on YouTube.
“I was happy to make these sacrifices because my number one focus was to make sure I was someone each of my students could trust and trust. Our school system is a mess, but the teachers are not the problem. They are the only people in the schools who are really fighting for our children,” the former educator continued.
“@meghantrainor don’t let a bad teacher let you tag all teachers. We work hard and we work hard. I love my students,” added another TikTok user.
Trainor is expecting her second baby with her husband, Daryl Sabara. She and the 30-year-old actor, whom she married in 2018, currently share a 2-year-old son, Riley.
