Madonna gets emotional.
The pop icon recently took a “trip down the lane of memories” when she visited her archive to look at all the outfits she’s worn throughout her decades-long career and shared a message about how far she’s come in an Instagram post. 18.9 million followers.
The heartfelt post started with a photo of 64-year-old Madonna wearing a white knit shirt and an old blue velvet cone bra over a pile of silver necklaces. She followed up with a gold corset cone bra snap from her box, before adding another picture of her holding a similar garment.
After that, she showed off a tuxedo-like top that was nothing but bones, still in the box, before flaunting a pair of black florists she once wore while holding it over her hips.
Madonna also took a look at a collection of cassette tapes from earlier in her career, the rows of boxes and shelves where she kept all her memories, a snap of a flamboyant magenta corset with butterflies, and a placket snap. The one who wrote “Hell on Wheels”, with the caption what this nostalgic experience meant to him.
“A trip to my archives is always a nostalgic trip to the past! If I think about my journey with music over the last 40 years, how could I not think of all the incredible outfits I have to wear and the amazing designers I once was? lucky enough to work!!!” said.
“When I was a little girl, I remember my mother always being cold. Partly because she was sick, but also because she had no coat,” Madonna recalled. “He used to spend whatever little money we had on our coats, and I remember waiting outside for the school bus in the middle of winter while my mom was shivering in the cold!!”
“Years later, when I was successful, my mother’s older sister said to me, ‘Now you can buy all the coats that your mother couldn’t buy for herself!’ said,” he continued.
“The journey from the memory of my mother shivering in the winter to me shivering in the air-conditioned warehouse where all my costumes are stored is quite remarkable! I am filled with gratitude.”
Madonna ended her post with a message to her mother, “Every time I wear an amazing coat, I think of my mom. I hope she likes my costume taste but most importantly, I hope she keeps it warm! 💗#madonnacelebrationtour”
