Madonna’s recent illness has her friends wondering if this week’s serious health scare will cause her to admit that the youth pursuit star isn’t Superwoman and give herself a break.
One of the 64 people said, “He’s the one who pushes himself all the time, but although he’s just as good as the people he’s worked with, most of them have to realize that he’s a minor part of his age and has no history of injury.” friends of the year-old star told Page Six.
“Of course, there are other actors older than him who are still on the way, but they don’t dance and perform like him.”
Page Six previously reported that Madonna worked 12 hours at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY, in preparation for her Celebration Tour.
However, this is now suspended after the singer was found unresponsive over the weekend and was intubated in intensive care while suffering from a bacterial infection.
“But while this type of disease can affect anyone of any age – and it certainly didn’t do it on its own – it also reminds us that she is just as human and just as fragile as the rest of us,” said the friend.
Part of the worry is that Madonna “always was a perfectionist,” according to sources.
Sources close to the singer say she insisted on longer rehearsal times, despite the judgment of her closest relatives.
“She knows how much her fans have been looking forward to this retrospective tour – it’s sold out worldwide – and she wanted to give them her best,” said her friend. “Seeing how well the tickets were selling really motivated him because it showed how much people wanted to see him.
“He’s really pioneered entertainment shows, aesthetically as well as musically, and he doesn’t want to disappoint his fans. But maybe he needs to learn that despite his incredible stamina, he demands too much of himself.’
There are also concerns that he is trying too hard to hold on to his youth. Last year, a fellow dancer told The Post: “She works hard to look younger because she likes to feel younger. She hangs out with younger people because she finds people her own age stuffy and boring.”
Page Six reached out to the singer’s representative for comment.
Madonna is recovering at her Manhattan home, where her 17-year-old sons David Banda and 22-year-old Rocco Ritchie have come and gone. His eldest daughter, Lourdes Leon, 26, has reportedly been with the singer throughout her health ordeal.
The Celebration Tour was supposed to start in Vancouver on July 15 but is now on hold.
A source close to production said the rehearsal schedule was done to simulate the hours Madonna would be working on the tour.
“They had a hard time wanting to see if he could perform most nights – now they’ll have to rethink the whole schedule,” said his friend, adding that more “days of rest” would need to be created in between. tour stops.
Due to knee and hip issues, Madonna has canceled 14 of her The Madame X Tour dates in 2019 and 2020. Madonna also injured her tailbone when a gold chair was pulled on stage during a performance.
She wrote on Instagram at the time: “I wish the knees hadn’t bent and the cartilage had not been torn and nothing had hurt and the tears had never fallen from our eyes.”
The original dates were preplanned with some downtime being worked on.
“Still, they have to wait and see how long it will take for him to recover first,” said the friend. “Madonna has made it clear that she really wants to get back there as soon as possible.
“If they need to make more appointments, they will,” the friend said. “The most important thing is that he recovers well and doesn’t get sick again on tour.”
