Lady Gaga has come under criticism for collaborating with Pfizer to promote the migraine drug Nurtec.
The singer’s paid partnership with the pharmaceutical giant drew a backlash from fans, who criticized the “shameful” ad and accused Gaga of selling for money.
“Daughter, what happened to you that you’re like this and you care about money that way and you don’t care about anything else anymore? Not the person who said ‘I hate money’ in 2009,” commented one person.
“What is wrong with this account? Where is the beak? Who is doing this? How does our Main Beast become a sponsor… [medicine]? This is unwise. [sic]” added another.
“Health is a human right, not a commodity to be exploited for greed and wealth. I know you are compassionate, intelligent and thoughtful. I hope you demonstrate this through the ways you use your platform and your privilege going forward. Not that,” wrote a third.
A vocal supporter of LGBTQIA+ rights, Gaga was also called out for not posting about Pride Month on her social media.

“I love you but this is badly timed, the LGBTQ community is actively under attack, and you’re making a brand deal with painkillers?” said one fan.
“Pride month and you ran two different ads, but don’t have time to say something about the horrific campaign against trans rights?” someone else wondered.
The backlash began when the 37-year-old “Bad Romance” singer shared her big pharma sponsorship on Instagram Tuesday, when she posted a photo of her performing on stage with Nurtec’s logo in the top right corner.
“I have dealt with migraine pain since I was a child. I will never forget that when I first tried Nurtec® ODT (rimegepant) 75 mg, I wished I had found it sooner. That’s why I’m proud to partner with Nurtec ODT. 💜 We are in this together” he wrote.
The beak is also featured in a television commercial for drugsWho describes the Haus Labs founder as “a real patient”.
“I know what it’s like to perform with pain. If you’re one of the millions who, like me, suffer from migraine-induced pain, Nurtec ODT can help. “This is the only drug that can treat migraine when it hits and prevent migraine attacks,” he said.
Amongst the overwhelmingly negative response to the ad, others came to the pop star’s defense and brought up her struggles with chronic illness.
“When they realize that Gaga, who has written a whole album about suffering, told us about her chronic painful illness for over a decade, and had to cancel entire tours because of her excruciating pain, might actually be little monsters. suffer,” one user tweeted.
The “Joker: Folie à Deux” actress has been candid in the past about her diagnosis of fibromyalgia, a chronic illness that she says causes “severe pain” and has led to previous tour cancellations.
