Kevin Costner has some confidence in his upcoming movie franchise Horizon: An American Legend.
Speaking to Deadline, 68-year-old Costner revealed that he had mortgaged his 10-acre home in Santa Barbara, California, to pay for some of the project’s budget himself.
“I mortgaged 10 acres of land on the water in Santa Barbara where I will build my last home” yellowstone said the star. “But I did it without thinking. It got my accountant f—— into a deal crisis. But it’s my life and I believe in this idea and story.”
Costner said he was working on it in the interview. Horizon – a Western series to span four films – in various formats since 1988, but has long had trouble finding “someone to do it”.
Explaining why he chose to risk his own property on the project, he said, “At the end of the day, I’m a storyteller and I went ahead and put my own money in.” “I’m not a very good businessman, so scratch your head if you want. I don’t know why, but I’ve been chasing it.”
“I’ve been pushed to the middle of the table three times in my career and I haven’t blinked,” he said.

When asked how he remembers winning, he told Deadline, “I’m making these movies for people, not myself. I write every moment in them, as if I’m preserving their experience, as if I’m preserving the time they spend coming to the movies.” At the 63rd Academy Awards.
“That’s how I look at it. But I’ll tell you what. I’ll never do that again,” he added with a laugh, promising not to continue funding his own projects afterwards. Horizon. “After these four I would never invest my money in another movie.”

Costner, whose wife Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce in May after 18 years of marriage, previously told PEOPLE in November: Horizon “It’s incredibly meaningful to me.”
“It was really the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but that’s exactly what I wanted to do,” he said at the time.
Although it is the first movie Horizon: An American Legend No release date yet, Costner told Deadline that he wants to premiere the first movie at the 2023 Venice Film Festival, which kicks off August 30.
