Kevin Costner responded with a “stunned” response when his wife, Christine Baumgartner, went to court to end their 18-year marriage.
The “Yellowstone” star has requested joint custody of the couple’s three children – Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12 – with whom she has not met, in documents submitted Tuesday by her lawyer, Laura Wasser.
Costner’s response came after Baumgartner filed for divorce on Monday.
The designer, who was photographed without her wedding ring on Wednesday, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation and also wanted joint custody of the children.
“It is with great regret that circumstances beyond his control have emerged that have led Mr Costner to participate in a marriage annulment case,” the actor’s representative said on Tuesday.
A source just told Page Six on Wednesday that Costner, 68, was “stunned” by the “actions” of his 49-year-old wife and “apparently he doesn’t want a divorce and will take her back.”
An insider also said that the “Bodyguard” star found the breakup “disappointing” because she still “loves” it. [Baumgartner] and he loves his children.”

Costner has also faced a number of cheating charges in the past few days.
However, our source denied that this was the reason for the divorce, emphasizing “There was no problem of cheating in any way”.
The Oscar-winning actress was photographed smiling and wearing her ring on Sunday, just a day before Baumgartner requested their marriage be dissolved.
The estranged couple tied the knot in 2004. Before Baumgartner, Costner was in a relationship with Bridget Rooney. The two have a son, Liam, 27.
The “Dancing With Wolves” star was previously married for 16 years to her college boyfriend, Cindy Silva, but they broke up in 1994. The exes have three children together: Annie, 39, Lily, 36, and Joe, 35.
