Kelly Clarkson is apparently eclipsing her “thin” ex-husband Brandon Blackstock on her new single “Me.”
The 40-year-old pop star took to Instagram on Thursday to share meaningful lyrics from the track.
“Because I don’t need someone to scold me / I don’t need someone to hurt me,” she sings. “I don’t need someone who feels weak next to me.”
“Me” will be released Friday, along with the songs “Mine” likely to appear on Clarkson’s upcoming divorce album “Chemistry.”
The “American Idol” Season 1 champion announced in an Instagram video last month that she had found the title after her tumultuous departure from Blackstock, 46.
“I was trying to come up with a word that really described everything because I didn’t want everyone to think I was saying words like ‘I’m angry, sorry’ – just a feeling or two, you know?
“This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship… and an entire relationship shouldn’t be reduced to one thing. I mean, you know, there’s good and bad and ugly things going on in it.

The Grammy-winning artist punched Blackstock by adding his own interpretation of the March 30 performance of Gayle’s hit “Abcdefu” on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” before releasing the lyrics to “Me.”
“Forget you and your father / And the fact that you have half of it,” Clarkson sang. “And my broken heart / I turned this into art.”
Gayle, 18, originally said, “Fuck you and your mom/ And your sister and your job/ And your trashy car/ And you call it art.”
Clarkson filed for divorce from her music manager in June 2020 after seven years of marriage. After a fierce two-year battle over their existence, the couple finalized their divorce in March 2022.
The former couple shares a daughter, River, 8, and son, Remington, 6. Blackstock also has two children from a previous marriage: daughter Savannah, 21, and son Seth, 16.
