Kelis has apparently now completely denied the relationship after claiming she “wouldn’t bother” to deal with rumors that she was dating Bill Murray.
Over the weekend, the 43-year-old “Bossy” artist responded to an Instagram comment referring to her love rumors with Murray, 72.
In the comments section below a photo of Kelis taken on the beach, a fan wrote, “Bill took you here with a wave” and added, “the media is screwing you all up lol.”
“Lol yes, maybe for now,” the Grammy nominee replied. “Everyone is stupid and will believe anything, but the best part is that we’re both blessed and rich and happy. So who’s really laughing? […] Now that’s funny.”
Elsewhere in the same comments section, a fan wrote, “Ma’am, you want to address these Bill Murray allegations?!? Damn! What is he doing with all this?!?”
Kelis replied, “Oh no baby, I wouldn’t bother”.
Last week, Sun He claimed that Kelis saw Ghost Hunters star, just one year after the singer lost her husband, Mike Mora, to stomach cancer.
Murray, whose second wife, Jennifer Butler, died in 2021, 13 years after their divorce, was previously photographed watching Kelis’ performance at the Mighty Hoopla music festival in London on June 3.
Representatives of both Kelis and Murray did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Kelis, who had three children last year: sons Knight, 13 and Shepherd, 6, and daughter Galilee, 2, opened up to PEOPLE about her grieving after Mora’s death.
At the time, he recalled that he had made a conscious choice to “accept” the difficult circumstances of his diagnosis. “It wasn’t in our hands from the start,” he said. “We’re grateful for what we have. It’s part of life.”
“It doesn’t change the fact that my heart is broken…but it does change how I choose to approach him,” Kelis detailed. “It reminds you how short time is and we don’t have any control. I want to control what I can control, how I treat people around me. I have a really big passion for celebrating people when they’re here. I don’t think it’s that helpful when they’re gone.”
Meanwhile, Murray is the father of six children. He shares his first wife, Margaret Kelly, with Homer, 41, and Luke, 38, and Butler, and sons Caleb 30, Jackson 27, Cooper 26, and Lincoln 22.
In 2014, he started enjoying life as a single man and told Howard Stern that he didn’t feel “alone”.
“It would be nice to go to some of these and make a date… [to George Clooney’s wedding]”But there’s a lot of things I shouldn’t have done, but I haven’t. [like] working on yourself or improving yourself or something else… getting more attached to myself.”
