This workwear look is a shoe for spring.
Kate Middleton attended a baby bank in Windsor today by surprise, and although her outfit is back on, she made a surprising change from her usual shoe routine.
The 41-year-old Princess of Wales typically wears heels for her public gatherings, but for today’s outing, she sported a pair of pointed-toe ballet shoes ($190) from street favorite Boden.
The black suede style for under $200 has a square buckle and is still available in limited sizes, but royal fashion fans can also pick up a pair in coral or olive tones.
Middleton paired the cozy flats with a beige Reiss blazer ($545) she’s worn a few times, adding a plain white top, black LK Bennett pants and the same Daniela Draper citrine necklace ($1,100) she wore on her visit to Birmingham last week.
He added a classic black belt, bringing back the gold Sezane rings he wore on a museum visit in 2021, and went without a bag for his visit.
This isn’t the first time Middleton has sported Boden; Over the years, she’s rocked everything from a brown leather belt to the beautiful pink blouse from the affordable British retailer.

During today’s engagement, the Princess of Wales met with volunteers and helped sort out donations at the facility, which provides clothing, diapers, strollers, toys and other essentials to families in need.
Royal watchers seemed to love changing shoes, which they called a relatable look for professional women.
On the Royal Fashion Police’s Instagram, a fan commented, “Yes to the shoes, I hope Kate wears them a little more so we can normalize the professional shoe choices to comfortable/not heeled.”
Another follower agrees, saying, “Normalize flat shoes for women. [clapping emoji]! Why should only men have the privilege of comfortable shoes at work? Nothing against heels but they often seem like the only accepted option for women…”
Shoes aside, the Princess of Wales has plenty of other fashion decisions to make over the next week.
King III.
While many royal experts expect the princess to go uncrowned for the historic event, there’s still the possibility of serious outrage when King Charles and Queen Camilla host a glittering party at Buckingham Palace next Friday.
Maybe he’ll bring flashy flats for this occasion.
