Royal blue for royalty.
Before her coronation on Saturday, Kate Middleton attended a lavish party at Buckingham Palace where royals and other VIP guests from around the world showed off their best suits as they celebrated the historic event.
Middleton, 41, wore a stunning dark blue twist-up crepe midi dress ($510) by Self-Portrait at the event on Friday.
The rich shadow was perhaps a nod to the Union Jack from the United Kingdom, which he honored during a trip with Prince William earlier on Thursday.
The Princess of Wales paired the flowy dress with her favorite sapphire and diamond tassel earrings that once belonged to the Queen Mother.
The glamorous accessory gave Middleton some shine, as she wasn’t expected to wear a tiara for her actual coronation.
William, 40, looked stylish in a navy blue suit as he mingled with distinguished guests, including those who were not on the guest list for the coronation.
A source from the pre-coronation party told the Daily Mail, “Basically it will be most of the VIP coronation guests, plus anyone else Her Majesty’s wishes to invite to the ceremony but couldn’t due to dwindling numbers in the Abbey.”
As for Prince Harry, who arrived in the UK early on Friday, he did not join his family for the relationship as the duke plans to attend tomorrow’s coronation without wife Meghan Markle.
Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska came to the party to support the king.

First Lady of the USA Dr. Jill Biden also attended the event wearing a silk floral Tom Ford dress ($1,495) after previously stepping into hot pink from head to toe.
The dazzling evening precedes tomorrow’s big day, with coronation events including a parade through the streets of London before the ceremony begins at 11am BST (6am EST).
King Charles and Queen Camilla were crowned Queen II in 2012, before their official coronation.
