The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office on Thursday issued a full temporary protection order for the alleged victim of Jonathan Majors – a decision the actor’s lawyers described as “disturbing” for maintaining his innocence.
A District Attorney spokesman confirmed that a judge had placed a provisional order on the victim at the request of the government and “with the consent of the defense attorney”. The verdict comes weeks after Majors appeared in court in March where he was charged with assault and abuse following a family dispute that left the woman with “minor head and neck injuries.”
Since his arrest, Majors’ legal team has released a series of evidence pertaining to the incident. faith III The actor did nothing wrong, including text messages and surveillance video of the alleged victim who was at a club after the alleged attack.
Majors was arrested on March 25 in New York for allegedly hitting the actor’s accuser “in the face with his open hand”, leaving him “a rip behind his ear”. According to the criminal complaint, Majors also allegedly “put his hand on her neck, causing bruising and severe pain.”
But since his arrest, Majors has been dismissed from several projects, management and public relations firms. Last week, Variation He also reported that multiple harassment victims have come forward with more allegations against the actor and are collaborating with the District Attorney’s Office. (The DA’s office declined The Daily Beast’s request for comment on the report.)
On Thursday, Major’s lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, continued to emphasize that the evidence points to her client’s innocence, emphasizing that the temporary protection order “is standard in such cases and we have allowed it because Mr. Majors does not want anything to do with the woman who attacked him.” ”
“We have been transparent and collaborative with the District Attorney, including providing the District Attorney with ample evidence, including witness statements, that Mr Majors is innocent.”
Chaudhry added in a statement to The Daily Beast, before revealing that his team recently provided “forensic opinion from a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician and Trauma Specialist.”
The expert, the lawyer, “examined the photos and videos of the woman and found that the woman had no injuries in the nightclub and that the injuries she later received were Mr. did not come from the path described by the woman).”
“Actually, the forensic expert’s opinion shows that the woman was lying,” Chaudhry added. “It is disturbing that the District Attorney continues this baseless case even when this irrefutable evidence is presented.”
In the report received by The Daily Beast, the doctor claims that he noticed signs of injury, given the evidence presented to him by Majors’ team, but that the image is not fully consistent with the alleged attack described. In the blurry video first reported by TMZ, the unidentified woman is seen with her friends at the Moxy Hotel in Manhattan shortly after the alleged incident. However, the report does not point out that the woman was holding an injured hand.
The doctor says in the report, “I can’t evaluate all of these findings by photography alone, but I don’t see any of these findings from what you showed me.”
The Majors’ next court date is May 9.
