The criminal trial of Jonathan Majors in New York City is again adjourned.
On Wednesday, Majors, 33, appeared before Judge Rachel S. Pauley in Manhattan Criminal Court for a brief hearing, and a new hearing date for the actor was set for Friday, September 15.
Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Kelli Galaway told the judge Wednesday that the indictment is ready for trial, while Major’s attorneys indicated that the two sides should further address “gaps” in the discovery process, according to Deadline. According to media reports, Majors spoke only to answer the judge’s questions during the trial.
A representative from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office referred PEOPLE to the prosecution’s statements in court; “Including the public’s ready response to the trial.” Major representatives did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
The domestic violence case resulting from Majors’s March 25 arrest in New York City was originally scheduled to go to trial on August 3. A spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office at the time said in an email: “We look forward to presenting all the facts and evidence in court.”
Majors is facing a string of misdemeanor assault and harassment charges following his arrest almost six months ago. If found guilty, the Marvel star could face up to a year in prison, according to Deadline.
According to documents from the time of Majors’ arrest, the alleged victim of the case told police Majors “[struck] He “grasped his face with his open hand, causing severe pain and a tear behind his ear” and allegedly caught his hand and neck, “causing bruising and severe pain.”
