Jeremy Renner put on the first late night show on Monday since his snowplow accident.

“If there’s any question about who the toughest Avenger is, it’s settled,” host Jimmy Kimmel said of the Marvel star.
Renner then detailed the New Year’s Eve event at his property outside of Reno, Nevada, and tried to jump into the snowplow to keep his nephew from running over him. “I was under the rails,” the actor recalled to Kimmel, adding that it was “a very, very bad way to start the year.”
The actor told Kimmel that the broken bone tally was somewhere in the “35 or so” area. “We kept exploring them as they went in the critical priority order of why I would or wouldn’t die. Six weeks later they would find another break, another break,” he recalled.
This Hawk Eye Star likened the snowplow to a “giant metal cookie roller” and said she was “very lucky” that none of her vital organs were severely damaged. “My eye popped out, that’s weird,” he said, adding that his lung had collapsed but “it’s okay, I got another one.”
Lying in the hospital bed for a long recovery and receiving phone calls from his Marvel co-stars and actor friends, Renner realized just how bad his injuries were. “[They are] The terrible actors couldn’t hide the fact that I looked awful,” he joked to Kimmel, but he admitted that it was their reactions that made him say, “I might not be able to give up on this.”
Renner underwent multiple surgeries after the accident. He was initially left in “critical but stable condition” after the snow blower (said to weigh at least 14,330 pounds) crushed it while helping a family member get a “stuck” vehicle out of the snow.
