James Corden gave his final monologue on: Late Late ShowBy using the opportunity to beg the Americans to put their differences behind them and come together.
“Moving here to America eight years ago was a big step for me and my family,” the British talk show host said in her final moments as the host of the CBS programme. “We started this show with Obama, then Trump, then a global pandemic and I watched America change a lot.”
Corden continued: “I’ve watched the divisions grow. I felt a bubble of negativity rise and overflow. All I really want to say tonight is to remember what America means to the rest of the world. All my life, it has been a sign of joy and optimism. It has flaws but show me a country that doesn’t exist!”
After eight seasons, in 2022 Corden announced that he would be ending the show due to his desire to return home to the UK to be closer to his family members. Harry Styles and Will Ferrell were the last guests of the show, which premiered Thursday night.
“We’re all so much the same as we’re different, and there are a lot of people trying to fuel those differences,” Corden continued. “We have to do our best to seek the joy, the light, because it’s out there. That’s the whole point of this show. We wanted to be joy and joy at the end of your day.
Before Corden’s final Late Late Show, CBS also gave the star a separate first time slot to say goodbye. Corden staged a reenactment of some scenes from the movie with the help of Tom Cruise. Lion KingCorden as meerkat Timon and Cruise as Puumba the boar.
It’s no secret that some of Corden’s die-hard fans were watching the celebrity’s latest recording, while others were watching because of rumors of One Direction’s reunion. Corden’s team is a “surprise” all week and fans, some One Direction members canceled live showsthey would all be reunited.
Unfortunately, Styles was the only band member present on stage. The solo singer discussed reunions in her latest episode of “Pour Your Content”, where she’s asked to explain her reunion plans or eat a bull’s penis.
“I would never say never to that,” Styles said. “If there was a time and that’s what we wanted to do, I don’t see why we wouldn’t do it.”
While this looks promising, there has been no reunion on the show. Corden made fun of a “shocking” final music show, but it turned out to be playing the piano in a tribute to the host’s time spent on the show.
