Rod Stewart is definitely not “retired” despite his children’s pleas.
The 78-year-old rocker recently told People that he plans to continue making music into his 80s.
When asked if he had a retirement plan, he said, “No, no, no, no, no, no.” “I love what I do.”
While he’s not planning to leave the limelight anytime soon, the musician admitted that his career will begin to look very different once he completes his upcoming 40-show world tour.
“I think this will be my last time to do this rock ‘n’ roll thing because I want to move on to swing music and the Great American Song Book,” he said.
“But I don’t take my songs to the cemetery and bury them. In an awkward situation I can take them out, but basically I want to rest them for a while. No more big tours. I said goodbye to Australia, New Zealand and Mexico, so now it’s time to say goodbye to the USA.”
To keep up with her busy schedule, the Grammy-winning actress said she works out “busy” at least four days a week.
“I am usually very fit. “I’ve played football all my life and I don’t smoke,” he said.
“It’s funny, the critics are saying ‘Oh, he got off the stage to rest’ on this tour. No, I did not! I got off the stage because I was soaking wet. I’m so fit you won’t believe it.”
Earlier this month, an insider told the Daily Mail that the “Maggie May” singer’s kids would like to see her start to slow down.
“They’re worried about him and want him to throw the towel in music and retire on his own terms,” the family friend said. “His fathers devoted 50 years of his life to music and he has nothing left to prove to anyone.
“Given his health issues and age, a few of Rod’s children feel it’s time to devote a few years to his health and family, especially after the birth of his third grandchild.”
Stewart has eight children, ages 12 to 59, that he shares with four different women.
Stewart fought quietly for three years before beating prostate cancer in 2019. He also beat thyroid cancer in 2000.

He then underwent knee replacement and ankle fusion surgery after being injured while playing football in 2020.
“Rod really doesn’t want to stop and doesn’t know how not to create music. This is her life. He would love to rock forever and he believes his fans need him,” the source explained.
“His family really hopes that once Rod’s tour is over it will be over. They really want it to stick with it.
