The chirping, sparkling summer is over, the season of sadness, autumn, makes itself felt with all its might. The negative energy of autumn can affect your relationship negatively as well as you. That’s why it’s essential to be prepared for the autumn syndrome!
What is autumn syndrome?
With the autumn, the angle of incidence of the sun’s rays on the earth changes and the rays begin to come more obliquely. Moreover, the days are getting shorter and the sun is usually behind the clouds during the day. As a result of all these, our body begins to produce less of the hormone serotonin, known as the hormone of happiness, and more of the hormone melatonin, which is released in the dark. Melatonin is a hormone that increases sleep and appetite. Just like animals, this hormone is the reason why we go to sleep during the winter months. That’s why, with the approach of winter, we turn to carbohydrates to store more energy with an instinct from our genes and we want to move less to preserve what we have stored. This brings with it complacency, constant tiredness and reluctance towards life. In other words, it creates the autumn syndrome.
Autumn in relationships, relationships in the fall
If you are in Autumn in your relationship, it means that the downhill season has begun, be it summer or winter. Of course, nothing is over, still with mutual effort, the deteriorating relationship can be recovered. But for this, both parties must be willing to continue the relationship.
We can say that it is something completely different for a good relationship to catch the autumn syndrome. You or your partner, and often both, may begin to show signs of seasonal depression with the seasonal change. This, of course, negatively affects your relationship as well as your mood.
Symptoms of autumn syndrome in the relationship
• Decreased desire to have sex.
• Reluctance towards social life.
• Desire to stay home.
• Intolerance and boredom towards each other.
• Inability to concentrate on what your lover is saying.
• Prefer to sleep most of the time you spend together.
• Beginning to be excited and interested in other people instead of getting excited about each other.
Restore summer energy to your relationship!
• The best thing you can do against the hormone melatonin is to try to get as much sunlight as possible. For this, try to spend a lot of time outside with your lover until the sun goes down, especially on weekends.
• Even if you feel that your desire for sex has decreased, the energy that sex will give will be good for both you and your lover. But instead of making sex a necessity, try adding new colors and new excitement this fall. For example, bring a fantasy of your lover or you to life.
• Speaking of color, try to wear energizing colors such as red, orange, yellow when you meet with your lover so that the gray tones of the sky do not overwhelm your relationship. These vibrant colors will have a positive effect on both you and your lover without even realizing it.
• Eat chocolate to supplement the serotonin hormone and of course feed it to your lover. But try not to get too caught up in other carbohydrates, because gaining weight will hurt your self-confidence and negatively affect your relationship.
• Incorporate a new hobby into your life that you can do together. This may be a cooking class you will attend together, or a sport… The important thing is to include new areas of sharing in your life.
Try these!
We may have intimidated you with the autumn syndrome, but instead of complaining about your relationship, how about enjoying love in the fall?
• Autumn love is better than summer love because it is not as ephemeral as summer love.
• It is more enjoyable to hug and sleep with your lover in autumn because this situation does not make you sweat like in summer heat.
• In summer, it is easier to meet new people and be a womanizer since everyone is on the streets and on vacation. But appreciate what you have, as it will be difficult to find someone new in the fall.
• A lover who will take care of you when you are sick is not bad, as you will be more sick in the fall and the following winter.
• Summer activities such as going on vacation, going to a festival, going to a nightclub are crowd-pleasing, but autumn activities such as walking in the rain, going to the movies, chatting under a blanket are always for two.
