Doja Cat was caught using an electronic cigarette at the 2023 Met Gala, despite Anna Wintour’s strict no-smoking rule.
The “Kiss Me More” singer held an electronic cigarette and gave a cloud of smoke to the camera as she waited to interview internet personality Emma Chamberlain on the red carpet at Vogue’s prestigious ball in her honor this year, on Monday night. Karl Lagerfeld, the late Chanel creative director.
Doja, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, made her Met debut with a dizzying cat-like look to resemble Lagerfeld’s famous cat Choupette.
Her ensemble featured a silver sequined custom Oscar de la Renta dress with a dramatic hood and feathered tail. He also wore cat ears and a prosthetic cat nose.
The 27-year-old “Freak” artist told Interview magazine last month that he had been using “zero nicotine” e-cigarettes for “10 weeks”. It’s unclear whether the Met or Wintour bans these types of e-cigarettes.
Doja’s representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment, but someone familiar with the Grammy winner reiterated to us that the device contains no nicotine and only flavored water vapor.

However, Wintour, 73, reported that smoking is the #1 crime for those who make the coveted guest list.
When asked “the best way to never be invited again” in a “CBS Mornings” interview that aired early Monday, Andrew Bolton, both Vogue editor-in-chief and museum curator, replied, “Smoking.”
In the past, guests were known to break rules by turning on lights in the bathroom, which led Wintour to add stealth security in 2018.
However, despite security, Cole Sprouse and Luka Sabbat documented smoking in the museum’s restroom in 2019 while also breaking the selfie ban rule.
Doja quit vaping in 2022 after undergoing tonsillectomy to remove an abscess caused by the habit.
After the showman learned that his tonsils were infected, he admittedly “forgot” to take his antibiotics and started smoking wine and vaping “all day”.
“I started getting a bad butt enlargement on my tonsils, so they had to operate today,” he said on Twitter at the time.
