Dick Van Dyke is recovering from minor injuries in a car accident earlier this month.
The 97-year-old man shone in the first photos since the car crash, obtained by DailyMail, while sharing a car with his wife of 51, Arlene Silver.
Despite his cheerful demeanor, the actor had stitches to his chin. However, he noted that he had almost completely recovered.
“I’m fine, I just have pain all over,” he told the pope on Friday. “The airbags didn’t deploy so I had a hundred plants on the steering wheel and that made me a little silly.”
He later made a playful joke that he was 97 years old and was “fine” because all his “friends were dead”.
For the entertainer outing, he wore gray jeans, black shoes, and a black and gray long-sleeved shirt that he matched with his wedding ring.
On March 15, TMZ reported that Van Dyke was driving his Lexus LS 500 in Malibu, California, and rainy weather conditions caused his vehicle to skid before hitting a door.
When police arrived on the scene, they found Van Dyke at the wheel of his car and was later treated by paramedics for his minor injuries.
At the time, the “Mary Poppins” star was left with blood on her mouth and nose and a possible concussion.
However, she reportedly turned down an offer to go to a local hospital and instead went home with a friend who came to pick her up.
Although the source reported that officers said that drugs and alcohol were not involved in Van Dyke’s accident, authorities submitted documents to the DMV demanding that the movie and TV star retake the driver’s license exam, apparently due to her age.
