Retired Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis appears to have suffered an injury during his time out of the spotlight.
The 66-year-old “Gangs of New York” star was spotted walking around Manhattan with the help of crutches on Monday.
It’s unclear what caused Day-Lewis’ injury. Its representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Despite the acclaimed actor’s current injury, he seemed to be in good shape and in a good mood while smiling at one point.
In some paparazzi footage, Day-Lewis’ tattooed arms were revealed as he was attached to walking aids for support.
The “Lincoln” star was seen wearing a black T-shirt with the logo of the North Bennet Street School in Boston on the front, a pair of bright blue sweatpants, a backpack, black glasses, and a green Howler Brothers baseball cap.
Her gray hair was shoulder-length, far from the more sophisticated look she wore on red carpets.
But this isn’t the first time Day-Lewis has been seen wearing a completely different look.
Nearly six years after quitting acting, she did her “unrecognizable” makeup in May.

In 2017, the British actor announced that “Phantom Thread” would be his last movie.
Although no reason was given for her retirement, spokesperson Leslee Dart said in part that her client was “extremely grateful to all of her collaborators and audiences over the years.”
However, less than a year later, Page Six privately learned that Day-Lewis was not yet ready to completely step away from Hollywood.
Sources told us that at the time, the “A Room with a View” actor was meeting with studio executives to take on the production of a future project.
It is unclear whether this work will see the light of day. According to Day-Lewis’ IMDb, he has not released any new series or movies since 2018.
