His manager, Jackie Gill, said Monday morning that the show’s former chief judge died Saturday at the age of 78, surrounded by his family in a nursing home in Kent, England. He had bone cancer.
Following the sad news, tributes began pouring in on social media, including several of Goodman’s former judges from the long-running dance competition series.
“Heartbroken [sic] My dear friend and partner for 19 years, the only ballroom legend #lengoodman has passed away,” wrote Bruno Tonioli, sharing a fun and candid photo of him smiling broadly while embracing Goodman.
“I will cherish the memory of our incredible adventures and the hundreds of shows we did with @bbcstrictly @dancingwiththestars,” added Tonioli, 67.[There] there will never be anyone like you we will miss you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Bruno.”

Carrie Ann Inaba released a video montage of fun moments between herself and Goodman over the years, referring to the late dance legend as “A Dancer. A teacher. A graceful gentleman. A great storyteller. A special soul. A mentor.” … a family man. And … a dear friend.”
“It broke my heart to say goodbye at the end of last season. But today’s news shattered everything again. I can’t believe you’re gone. 💔” she continued.
“Dear friend, you were one of a kind. And I will treasure our memories and keep them close, as I join the many who mourn your loss,” said 55-year-old Inaba.
He went on to thank Goodman for “everything you shared with us”, including “your humor, your wisdom, your wit, and your truth.”
“Until we meet again…✨, Rest in peace Len 🤍,” Inaba concluded.
Sharing his own tribute to Goodman, ex DWTS host Tom Bergeron has posted a collage of photos of the couple over the years with costars and more.
“A Really Good Guy. 😞 #rip,” the caption wrote.
Kym Johnson-Herjavec also posted a photo of himself and Goodman, “Heartbroken 💔 Heaven’s gates are today covered with 10 shovels and mirrored balls.”
She added: “There was nothing that felt better than getting a 10 from Len. It was a classy move with a cheeky grin and quick wit. You will be missed so much. Rest in peace sweet Len.”
In his eulogy, Keo Motsepe wrote “Relax Sir Len. You will be missed 💔” alongside the hashtags “#Legend”, “#ThankYou” and “#RIP”.
In a statement shared with BBC News, announcing Goodman’s death on Monday, Gill said: “We are deeply saddened to announce that Len Goodman passed away peacefully at the age of 78.”
The statement added, “A much loved husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family, friends and everyone who knew him.”
