Chris Kattan is getting married!
This Saturday night live The 52-year-old alum proposed to his girlfriend Maria Libri at a Wilco concert in Chicago last month, and Maria Libri said yes!
“Maria and I accept each other as we are,” Kattan tells PEOPLE privately. “We not only embrace our commonalities, but also embrace our quirks and differences – and yet we don’t love each other, we love them because of them.”
He continues, “When I saw him a few months after we first met and spent time together and realized that our creative minds were also perfectly aligned (after the first sketch we did together), that’s when I knew I was in trouble! Fortunately for me, he was the same way. he felt.
Libri remembers how the couple immediately shared a connection after they met at Kattan’s stand-up comedy show in Springfield, Illinois, about a year and a half ago.
“It’s funny how life sometimes works like that and gives you gifts when you’re not looking for them,” she says. “When we met, we instantly relaxed with each other. Strange, mystical or magical, it’s as if we knew each other in a past life. After spending that first day together (though I don’t know how), I somehow knew that after meeting Chris, my life would never be the same.”

Katan shared a series of photos on Instagram of her romantic proposal in March, saying, “Well… this happened in Chicago last night. I proposed to Maria at the Wilco concert, Maria’s favorite band.”
“Soloist Jeff Tweedy stopped the concert when I knelt down and said, ‘Yes!’ said,” he added. “Jeff said ‘yes’ to everyone!” said. Then one of Maria’s favorite songs, ‘I’m the Man Who Loves You’ was played. Thank you to Wilco, Jeff and everyone involved in making this incredible moment happen. I am forever grateful. I love you Maria.”
SNL The stars shared their best wishes in the comments section. Kenan Thompson wrote “Congratulations!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️” and Cheri Oteri commented, “Congratulations Chris and Maria‼️❤️❤️”.
Horatio Sanz added, “Hurray. Excellent 👏👏👏👏👏.”
Kattan also shared a video on Instagram asking questions mid-show, “Here’s a video someone sent me when I proposed to Maria during the Wilco concert in Chicago.”
“Thanks Wilco for giving us some time beforehand. [sic] I’m going to play ‘I’m the Man Who Loves You’ for our engagement.”
Kattan and Libri became Instagram official in February 2022 when the comedian shared a photo of the couple smiling together.
“‘I just met a girl named Maria!’ He added the note @maria_libri” to the snapshot and looked like he was talking about the musical. West Side Story.
Libri also confirmed that they are dating in an interview. Springfield Journal-Record The month after he was spotted in Illinois.
“I’m in a relationship with Chris,” she said at the time. “Chris will visit often.”

The two first connected when Libri interviewed Kattan on the stand-up comedy show in September 2022.
