Channing Tatum is a busy man.
Between acting, producing, directing, and being a best-selling writer – he just released his third children’s book, The One and Only Sparkella and the Big Lie – The 43-year-old star decided to take a summer vacation. “I’ve been working nonstop for almost two and a half years,” he tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue.

“My daughter listened to nothing but Celtic Irish music, anything that felt magical and folkloric,” she says. “But it started to branch out and now we do T-Swifty for morning outings. We’re in a very tough Taylor Swift mode right now.”
While starring in the upcoming movie Cat IslandDirected by his girlfriend Zoë Kravitz, Tatum said he has no plans to return to the role of Magic Mike. Inspired by Everly and illustrated by Kim Barnes, Tatum’s children’s book series follows a little girl named Sparkella as she starts her first day of school anxious and then manages her emotions when her expectations are not met. The third book follows him as he tries to befriend the cool new kid at school, but to do so he must learn the value of being honest when he “borrows” another friend’s toy.
“I usually attribute this to something I’ve had with Evie so I can at least understand her emotional journey,” Tatum says.
Regarding being a bestselling author, she adds, “I would love to go to every English teacher I see.” “I was the last person they thought was a teacher for years.”
