Britney Spears’ lawyer works for free.
Mathew Rosengart has started offering his services for free after receiving nearly $6 million from the pop star since hiring him in July 2021, TMZ reported on Friday.
Sources said Spears paid the former federal prosecutor $4.2 million between November 2021 and March 2023 alone.
While the Grammy winner has been a free woman for a year and a half, her case is still pending as she continues to fight her estranged father, Jamie Spears, and former business manager Lou Taylor over legal fees and accounting issues.

The $6 million that 41-year-old Britney paid her powerful lawyer pales in comparison to the $36 million that 70-year-old Jamie and various lawyers allegedly received from the “Toxic” singer’s mansion during his nearly 14-year conservancy.
In court documents filed in January 2022, Rosengart claimed that in February 2008, amid personal struggles, Jamie, who was in charge of her superstar daughter’s personal and financial affairs, received “at least $6 million” from her role as a conservator.
The file also claimed that the Spears patriarch “petitioned to be paid out to dozens of different law firms” for a fee of “more than $30 million.”
Jamie has denied any offense.
By the time Britney’s conservancy ended, she reportedly had a net worth of just $60 million despite chart-topping albums, a $15 million deal for “The X Factor” and a four-year Las Vegas gig that grossed $137.7 million, among other ventures.
