Dropping hints. Taylor Swift’s fans think that she hinted at Blake Lively’s baby name for her fourth child with Ryan Reynolds. Many theories popped up after some fans read into a very specific name being dropped in one of her songs off of Midnights.
Blake Lively announced her pregnancy at the 10th Annual Forbes Power Women’s Summit on Thursday, September 15, 2022, where she posed in front of the cameras with a sequined long-sleeved mini dress. A source confirmed to People that Blake gave birth between December 2022 and January 2023 after she posted a picture of herself on Instagram with a flat belly. “Blake and Ryan are amazing together. Ryan is a great dad. He is very sweet to Blake. They are very excited about the new baby. The older siblings have adjusted great,” the source told the outlet. “Blake is the best mom,” adds the source of the mom of four. “She is surrounded by friends that shower her with gifts for all the kids. She and Ryan are a favorite couple. It’s a goal for many of Blake’s friends to have what she has.”
Blake and Ryan married on September 9, 2012, and the couple has three girls together: James, 8, Inez, 5, and Betty, 3. The folklore musician previously gave a nod to her close friends Blake and Ryan’s kids in other albums. In her previous album, she sang on “Betty,” “You heard the rumors from Inez / You can’t believe a word she says” and “I was walking home on broken cobblestones / Just thinking of you when she pulled up like / A figment of my worst intentions / She said ‘James, get in, let’s drive.’” Taylor confirmed that the names were of her friends’ kids in a radio show, “I named all the characters in this story after my friends’ kids, and I hope you like it!”

One fan tweeted, “the only name I’m hearing on this new album is Daisy…is this @VancityReynolds & @blakelively new baby’s name?? #callingitnow” The lyrics of the song mention the name, I” see the great escape, so long, Daisy Mae / I picked the petals, he loves me not / Something different bloomed, writing in my room / I play my songs in the parking lot”
The Deadpool actor revealed that name-dropping their kids in Taylor’s songs was an “honor.” “The names are the names of our kids. We trust her implicitly. She’s very sensitive to any of that stuff. And obviously the song has nothing to do with our kids other than our kids’ names. But I mean, what an honor,” he said during a SiriusXM Town Hall special with Jess Cagle in August 2021. “We thought it was pretty damn amazing. We still do. You know, I still walk down the street and shake my head thinking ‘I can’t believe that happened.” Taylor also notably thanked the actors and their children in her speech when she won Album of the Year at the 2022 Grammys. “Thank you, James, Inez, and Betty and their parents who are the second and third people.”
For now, the couple hasn’t revealed the name of their baby. But, we won’t be surprised if little Daisy Mae makes their grand debut soon.
A source told People in September 2022 that Blake wanted to be an “old-fashioned mom.” “She happens to be a really attentive mom. Her kids are her first priority over everything,”the insider said. “You never would think that Blake Lively, this superstar and beautiful woman, would be this regular person who cooks dinner every night and takes care of the family but she is really wonderful with the kids.” The source continued, “She wants to be that old-fashioned kind of mom. When the kids are out or sleeping that’s when she makes time to do work stuff.”
At the 10th Annual Forbes Power Women’s Summit in 2022, Blake also opened up about the mother she wants to be. “I just like to create. Whether that’s baking or storytelling or businesses or humans, I just really like creating,” she said, adding that it was important for her daughters to “see that you don’t have to choose one or the other.” She continued, “I don’t need them to choose to be a businesswoman or a mom. They can be both or neither, but I just want for them to see that anything is possible.”
Blake also explained that, because she’s “so obsessed with my family,” she only takes projects that she “really believe[s] in.” “I’m very into product development. If I can’t create it, I don’t want to be a part of it, just because there’s so many great things out there,” she said. “I want to create something that is missing and I love for my kids to see that across all areas.”
She also told People in November 2021 why it was “important” to her to have her children see her working. “I want to be as present of a mother as humanly possible and I want them to feel my presence, but I also think the best way to be the best mother is to show them that you can have a life and have a passion and have an identity outside of just being a mother,” she said. “I mean, being a mother is completely all-encompassing, and that doesn’t mean there are a lot of mothers who don’t have the opportunity to work as well, but just having your [own] identity is, I think, very important.” She continued. “And teaching them that they can maintain themselves and that everything is possible [is crucial]. So it is very important for them to see me working. I bring them along, though. I mean, it’s amazing they’re not hidden under my skirt right now. I bring them everywhere. It’s so inappropriate, but I’m very lucky to be at a job that allows me to do that.”
Blake also told Forbes magazine in May 2022 about how becoming a mother made her appreciate her body. “Once I had children, that just became even more profound because my time was even more precious, but also I think having children for me made me feel so much more in my skin,” she said. “I never felt more myself or at ease in my own body or more confident — not to say that there aren’t a bevy of insecurities coming at me a million times a day, but I just feel incredibly settled.”
