Ben Affleck and Matt Damon once spent all their hard-earned money on a party house and a flashy new car.
At the time, the aspiring actors lived together in Los Angeles and shared a bank account until their 20s, but accidentally mismanaged their money after their first big break.
Affleck revealed on “The Drew Barrymore Show” on Friday that when they sold the rights to the “Good Will Hunting” script for $600,000, he thought to himself: “‘We’re rich for life now. My needs are gone. I will never have to work again. I’m rich forever.’”
However, after paying their agents a fee of $30,000 and paying over $160,000 in taxes, both men were left with only enough money to buy a Jeep Cherokee and spend the rest on a $5,000 “party house” per month.
“We were broke in six months,” Affleck said.
However, the 50-year-old “Argo” director has no regrets about putting all his money together with 52-year-old Damon, because it was “really worthwhile” after all.
“We were friends and we wanted each other to succeed and we loved each other, so it seemed clear to me, ‘Let’s do this together,'” Affleck said.

Splitting bills wasn’t the only growing pain the duo had to navigate, though.
Affleck revealed earlier this month that he’s having trouble cleaning up after Damon.
The “Armageddon” star shared on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” that she walked into her shared apartment with the “Jason Bourne” actor one day and found her roommate playing a Sega Genesis hockey game surrounded by “concentric circles of garbage.” ,” including an old pizza box and leftover sushi with a “worm”.
Damon – apparently unaware of the mess – supposedly said to Affleck and his brother at the time, “‘Hey guys, what’s going on?'”
The “Deep Water” star said her best friend is a “beautiful” and “intelligent” man, but concluded that she “wouldn’t recommend living with him”.
