Warner Bros. Discovery announced the long-awaited HBO Max branding today and showcased a host of new content along with it. Between first looks at previously announced series and teasers of newly revealed HBO and Max Original shows, the company has given its subscribers a lot to be excited about after Max’s launch on May 23.
Below, we’ve rounded up each of the promotional trailers that WBD showed during today’s one-hour edition.
Penguin
Colin Farrell returns as the classic DC villain in the first teaser. Penguin, perhaps the most anticipated show of the group. The previously announced series promises to expand on Matt Reeves’ character Farrell. Batman. The gangster is seen sipping martinis, firing his gun multiple times, and giggling wildly in this look at Max’s new lineup.
“This is one of those moments when you ask yourself the question: What kind of life do I want?” Penguin tells. “The world was not built for guys like us. So we must take whatever we decide is ours.”
Although the Penguin has been seen in a number of different Batman movies and most famously portrayed by Danny DeVito in 1992. Batman Returns, this spinoff expands on Farrell’s unique take on the villain. The 8-episode series will take place after the events. The silence of the lambs legend Jodie Foster returns to detective work in HBO’s upcoming movie True Detective: Land of the Night.
