Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean and his wife, Rochelle McLean, announced on Monday that they are separating after 11 years of marriage.
“Marriage is hard but worth it. “We mutually agreed to part ways temporarily to work on ourselves and our marriage in hopes of building a stronger future.”
Our plan is to get back together and continue to nurture our love for each other and our family. We ask for respect and privacy right now.”
McLeans also asked courtesy for sharing two daughters: Elliott, 10, and Lyric, 6 (Elliott used to be called Ava.)
“Separation is hard enough without comment,” they said. “Please be gentle and remember that children are involved.”

The 45-year-old “I Want This” singer and 41-year-old hairdresser tied the knot in December 2011 after six years of dating. They got married at the Beverly Hills Hotel while the groom’s bandmates watched.
AJ went through various trials and tribulations with his wife at his side. She revealed in 2018 that she had a relapse after battling alcoholism and substance abuse issues.
“Look, I’m not ashamed to say that for the past year my illness has started again. “It’s no secret that this is a disease and a daily struggle,” he said.
“Are my children and wife a great support and a great source of inspiration? Yes, one hundred percent. But at the same time, the biggest problem I have with them is putting myself first, not my family. Because I think that’s what you have to do – you have to put your family first.
AJ was treated for depression and excessive alcohol consumption in 2001, 2002 and 2011, but now has support groups around him and attends meetings regularly.
