Jennifer Garner planned the perfect gift for her father to celebrate his birthday.
Monday, 13 I’m Going On 30 The 51-year-old actress revealed she surprised her father, William John Garner, with a blast from her past during a trip to her hometown of Charleston, West Virginia, over the weekend.
“Dad’s early birthday surprise: a ride in his childhood car – [a] 1948 Studebaker Champion,” Jennifer captioned a photo on Instagram of herself and her father posing next to the black vehicle.
He added that “the kind and generous David King” also joined his father on the trip.
Jennfier’s father’s birthday is September 21, mentioned in the classic 1971 song “September” by Earth Wind and Fire. “We always knew you were the coolest, dad!” Jennifer wrote about her father, who frequently appears with her in ongoing Capitol One Venture card ads in 2017.
This sweet gift was just one of the highlights of Jennifer’s homecoming visit, which was packed even though she only had “36 hours” in town.

The Once Upon a Farm founder also gave away a “multi-pack giveaway” of coveted baby food and snacks at her local Kroger store. “Thank you to everyone who woke up!” Wrote.
But family was definitely the focus of Jennifer’s trip.
Her post began with a photo of her hugging her nephew after a football game. “I’m the ♥️ niece,” wrote Jennifer, who is the middle child of sisters Melissa Garner Wylie and Susannah Kay Garner Carpenter. He shared a video of his nephew playing football while sitting in the stands with his loved ones.
Jennifer: “What am I, suddenly a football expert?” he joked.
Quality time was also spent with mother Patricia Ann Garner; Jennifer shared a photo of two people holding hands. “Of course we had to cover my mom’s rings! ⌚️,” Jennifer wrote.
And Jennifer saw her sister Susannah taking a picture with her. “I can’t imagine life without my little sister Susannah. (We miss you, Melissa!),” he said.
