Kevin Spacey has been accused of being a “sexual bully” by the prosecution for a series of alleged assaults on four men at his trial in England on Friday.
The London jury was also told that the actor “enjoyed making others feel powerless and uncomfortable” and “doing what he wanted to do for his own personal sexual satisfaction”. Spacey, 63, had previously denied 12 charges, including sexual assault and indecent assault, against four alleged victims between 2001 and 2013.
At the Southwark Crown Court in London, prosecutor Christine Agnew reminded jurors that the defendant should not “star strike”. “He is an extremely famous actor who has won a number of awards,” she said. “The prosecution also claims to be a man who sexually harassed other men.”
He went on to argue that Spacey’s “preferred method of attack” was “aggressively grabbing other men by the groin”. One of the men alleged to have been assaulted – all in their 20s or 30s at the time of the events – claimed in one incident that he “grabbed him so hard he almost went off the road” while driving Spacey. He later scolded Spacey and told him never to do it again, claiming that “his anger had just turned into anger”. [Spacey] Open.”
The court also heard that a second man had met Spacey while he was working at an event at a theater in London’s West End. When no one was around, Spacey asked him sexually explicit questions, including the size of his genitals, and said, “Is it true what they say about black men, do you like the outdoors?” He also claimed that Spacey later grabbed his penis with “painful force”.
The court was told that a third accuser – the first to file a complaint – met Spacey while auditioning for a role. The man later said he asked Spacey for mentorship and returned to the actor’s apartment after meeting. After falling asleep or fainting, the man later said that when he awoke, he found Spacey “sucking his penis.” He said he pushed Spacey and as he left the apartment, Spacey told him not to tell anyone what had happened.
The fourth accuser said Spacey worked at a bar he visited in 2013. The man said that he had a chat with the actor and then said that he would go to another bar to meet his friends. When the alleged victim arrived at the second location, he saw that Spacey was already drinking with his group of friends. There, Spacey allegedly put his hand on the man’s knee and the knees of the others in the group.
The jurors then went to the man’s house with one of his friends and Spacey and Spacey, where they continued to smoke and smoke marijuana. At home, the complainant claimed that Spacey kissed her neck twice and said, “Calm down, take it easy.” The man also claimed that Spacey grabbed his groin before the man “pushed the accused against the wall” and said, “Sorry man, I don’t hit for that team” before leaving.
Prosecutor Agnew said “well it could be” that Spacey may have gotten “a sexual excitement” from the aggression he claimed. He also said that the four accusers did not know each other.
“Are they lying?” Agnew asked the judges. “Did they decide to make allegations against the accused in order to gain material advantage? Is that why they came forward? This will certainly be recommended to you by those representing the accused.”
“Or is that the case, as the prosecution claims? [Spacey] abused the power and influence his reputation and fame had given him; taking advantage of its popularity and importance, its fame and influence,” he added.
Spacey’s attorney, Patrick Gibbs, said his client “completely denied” the charges. “Mr. Gibbs, Spacey is rich and influential, and the flip side of that, in your thoughts on the case, said. “What did they want from his wealth and influence? And what do you think they still want?
