as a host late nightSeth Meyers’ reputation for calmness, composure, and hospitality makes a recent confession to PEOPLE even more shocking: There’s a long simmering beef with Maine.
‘The hottest, most miserable vacation of my life’, 49 Saturday night live In this week’s issue, alum recalls her childhood family vacation to Molasses Pond in rural Hancock County. “It was the worst place we went to. It should have been called Mosquito Street.”
A sarcastic take on the province, ironically known as Vacationland, Family Trips with the Meyers Brothersa very funny new podcast that he co-hosted with his brother, MADtv And That 70’s Show alum Josh Meyers.
The brothers recall old memories of their unfortunate adventures with their parents, Larry and Hilary, and invite guests such as Amy Poehler, Pete Davidson, Tom Holland, Amy Schumer, Colin Jost and more stars to share their adventures.
“Family vacations are great balancers. Everyone went on the trip,” Seth explains, the idea that inspired the podcast. “They hold such a big place in your memory because they were adventures whether they went well or badly. We enjoy talking more about the bad ones.”
Josh, 47, adds: “We don’t want our guests to think too much about it. There’s a charm to these people before they were famous. We’ve all had the same experiences.”
For the Meyers brothers, Family Trips It provides a cathartic outlet to overcome a fun trauma, like when Josh breaks his leg on the first day of a trip to Telluride, Colorado.
“Not skiing. He owed money to some guys,” Seth said flatly.
Or when his parents couldn’t find Josh’s birth certificate for his upcoming trip to Bermuda and had him baptized to secure another acceptable form of document.
“We’re not religious,” says Josh, “but every time I go there, maybe to be able to enter.”
“I feel like I have more luck,” Seth replies. “I didn’t try to fake it. I think a fake baptism could be even worse than no baptism at all.”
Or all the time on trips where siblings have to share beds in a hotel room.
“Josh sleeps like the hand of a clock,” Seth says. “It starts vertically and starts spinning very slowly. And he’s a tall guy. He wasn’t great.
“I am renewed now, thanks to my girlfriend and my dog,” Josh says in his defense. “Better now, Seth.”
For all the fun the brothers had in their memories Family TripsSeth, who is the father of three with his wife, Alexi Ashe, says his trips down the memory lane gave him a serious perspective on parenting.

“It’s funny how you start doing things that would be so —ty if your kids weren’t around and then start doing things that get really fun,” she says. “It takes very little time to blow their minds. We went to this Memorial Day duck race where they put rubber ducks in the river. the water was not moving none. I think it was supposed to take five minutes, but it took an hour and a half. I was very angry, but my children were very excited. You have to find a way to see things through their eyes, and then it’s worth it.”
