The biggest mystery in Hollywood – where is Jamie Foxx?
Known as the perfect entertainer, the 55-year-old Oscar-winning actor has been MIA since he suffered a “medical complication” while filming the Netflix action comedy “Back in Action” on April 11 in Atlanta, Georgia.
There has been little news since her eldest daughter, Corinne Foxx, shared a statement on Instagram the next day.
“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, had a medical complication yesterday,” the statement said. “Fortunately, thanks to quick action and great care, she is already on her way to recovery.
“We know how much he is loved and we appreciate your prayers. The family wants privacy during this time.”
Page Six may reveal a family member saying that Foxx is “in recovery,” but it may also reveal growing concern in Hollywood that the silence surrounding Foxx could affect his future career.
The fate of the new Netflix movie “Back in Action” is also in the air.
Foxx has not been seen since the emergency. At the beginning of May, Foxx’s Instagram simply wrote: “Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling grateful.”
On May 12, a month after she announced her father’s medical emergency, Corinne, 29, said her father was well enough to play pickle ball.
Foxx is known to have recovered at a clinic in Chicago that specializes in stroke recovery, traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and cancer rehabilitation.
Mike Tyson claimed that the star suffered a stroke, though this has not been confirmed.
Their daughters Corinne, 14-year-old Annalize, and Annalise’s mother, Kristin Grannis, were seen at the clinic.
Corinne Foxx’s mother, Corinne, told Page Six she could not comment on her recovery.
His representatives are not providing any new information at this time, he told Page Six on Friday.
But Bruce Heckhard, whose brother Talley Heckhard Talley grew up with Foxx, told us: “From what I’ve heard he’s been doing pretty well so far, but I haven’t witnessed it myself.”
Heckard poignantly said that Foxx’s recovery meant he couldn’t open the ballpark he had gifted to his hometown of Terrell, Texas. The court at Breezy Hill Park is decorated with his name.
“They dedicated a park to Jamie, they did a great job, but he couldn’t land there,” Heckard said.
The park’s opening is far from the only show Foxx is expected to do this spring and summer; In fact, it should have had a promotional calendar full of three upcoming movies.
His latest movie this week is “God is a Bullet””His portrayal of The Ferryman was quietly released in few theaters and did not have a red carpet premiere.
In August, he will voice a dog named Bug with Will Ferrell in the R-rated comedy “Strays,” which will hit theaters on August 18.
Also this week, a trailer for Foxx’s new Netflix movie “They Cloned Tyrone” was posted to his Instagram with the message: “It’s about to crash. #TheyClonedTyrone coming July 21 exclusively on @netflix.”
Foxx was absent from the red carpet premiere last week, and her Instagram post sparked accusations that her daughter Corinne, who responded with the “praying hands” emoji, deliberately kept her fans in the dark.
“Hey, we fans are so worried about your dad. We don’t care about your next project, can you please let us know about his health, it’s irritating to keep fans in the dark and then post everything for a new episode is he alright????” wrote a follower.
Another follower commented, “Many of your fans love some health updates. Bro are you okay?”
Also produced by Foxx, the film also stars John Bodega and Teyonah Parris.
At the movie’s premiere in Florida last week, Boyega said “no one has heard from” the actor since he was hospitalized.
“No one has heard from Jamie,” Boyega told “Entertainment Tonight.” “I wanted him to come here but you know, I know he’s dealing with what he’s dealing with. I just wish him the best,” she said.
“I’ve searched, I’ll keep searching.”
The mystery goes back to the movie “Back in Action,” which he was shooting when he fell ill and reunited him with Cameron Diaz.
The couple first shared the screen in 1999’s “Any Given Sunda”.y” and the 2014s “Annie” and it was her first role since quitting acting in 2014 and focusing on starting a family – now the mother of her 3-year-old daughter Raddix with her husband, Benji Madden.
“@iamjamiefoxx only you can move me! It will be a blast! Diaz wrote on Instagram in June 2022 when the cast was announced.
However, The Sun newspaper reported that the film was plagued with problems after Foxx allegedly fired several crew members due to various delays and difficulties during filming in London before relocating to Atlanta.
Netflix employees told Page Six that there is no release date yet for “Back in Action,” which will require Foxx’s proxies to be used in some scenes. It is not even known whether the film is completely finished.
The Daily Mail claimed this week that Diaz, 50, had never spoken to Foxx and felt “guilty” over their disagreement during the making of the film.
If he talked to Foxx, he’s not sharing. A Hollywood source told Foxx’s Page Six: “The best-kept secret in Hollywood.”
This has only fueled speculation about the seriousness of the problem.
Among these speculations, boxing legend Mike Tyson, who is planning a biopic starring Foxx, said, “He’s not feeling well. They called it a coup. I have no idea what happened to him.”
Foxx’s representatives refused to confirm or deny this.
But representatives, Dr. They’ve been vocal about the “completely false” allegations by gossip columnist AJ Benza about Drew Pinsky’s program that Foxx has been harmed by the COVID-19 vaccine. Pinsky also denied the comments.
Another well-located industry source told us: “I think people around him are afraid to tell him how sick he really is – this could affect how people in Hollywood perceive him in the future.”
Foxx has made it a habit to hide his private life from the public eye.
The “Ray Charles” Oscar-winning actor never married, but was most recently in a long-term relationship with Katie Holmes.
They have been together since 2013 – nearly a year after Holmes divorced Tom Cruise. The couple was quite secretive about their early dating, meeting late at night in hotels and sneaking out through the back entrances to avoid gossip.
They finally made their public appearance at Clive Davis’s Pre-Grammys Gala in New York in 2018 and walked the red carpet together for the first time at the Met Gala in 2019, but broke up that August.
A Hollywood source told Page Six that the secrecy around his condition was ultimately harmful.
“I know people are aware that this is a private matter, but people are worried – Jamie’s friends and fans – and they just want to know what’s going on,” the well-located industry source said.
“I don’t think it’s too much to ask for.”
